The Orange Bowl will be a matchup of the top schools from the ACC and SEC that are not in the CFP.

Maybe they'll start the committee November 17th next year also. That would be an improvement.
Pretty surprising to me that the Rose Bowl is staying around

It has to, because it is part of the CFP, and this year it is a playoff game. They signed a contract.

That's a kick in the nuts to the B1G/PAC, because if that wasn't the case, they could have played the Rose Bowl in the Spring between their two champs, a worthy prize to fight for beyond the conference title. But now .... nope.

Now if the SEC/ACC/B12 end up canceling as well, then expect the Rose to be held in the Spring, if Spring football happens.

I suppose there's nothing to prevent the B1G and P12 from booking a game in the Rose Bowl stadium as a spring bowl game. That said, the Rose Bowl game has a contract to be a CFP semi final this year and I'm quite confident ESPN and the CFP will insist it be played absent a public health emergency in LA.
A NY6 Bowl season without a legitimate G5, B1G, and PAC-12 Champ? Just stop... it's not like the travel can be justified either if one team member gets sick and they all end up on a plane passing through a major airport. Same for fans flying in.

The best way to do it is to make the CFP Bowls a bubble type of venue and play some high profile matchups, but it should just be the CFP bowls and nothing else this year with limited local fans, some scouts, and private rows for families.

I realize this was just a tweet by some sports writer, but it's a stretch to call what is, technically, just the CFP Championship a national championship, when the whole nation isn't playing. If it happens at all, the winner of that invitational tournament will always have a big 'ol asterisk beside its name in the record books.
If there are no other events (like the parade) and very limited attendance, it seems like that game could be played pretty much anywhere as long as they use the name "Rose Bowl". Which could become necessary depending on how the state of California feels about it being played.

There may be a 2nd Rose in the Spring.

The G5 rep. is most often the AAC champ.

The Big 10 champ missed 3 years running until last year. The Pac 12 hasn't sent any team in 4 of the 6 years.

Ohio St. would be nice to have, but other than that, its going to look the same as always.

There are no asterisks for 1942-1945.

1943 and 1944 in particular had a reduction in participating teams similar to what is currently planned this year. In 1943, for instance, only 4 of 12 SEC schools played and only 3 of 10 Pacific Coast Conference schools played.

The traditional B1G/PAC12 Rose Bowl game isn't being played due to being part of the semis.

Can they have two games in the same venue? What about field conditions and field logos? You would think they wouldn't cave to all the sponsors with hardly anyone in attendance. Since it's Big 12 ACC SEC, I would just go with New Orleans as your venue for both games. Otherwise it would have to be Pasedena as "written in the contract".
