Sources: Several conferences in college basketball are viewing the window between the day after Thanksgiving and January 1st as a "golden opportunity" to get games played.

This time frame would occur after most schools are done academically for the fall semester.

the whole of college athletics will be collapsed well before then
I was thinking a month ago indoor basketball was going to be iffy and I was not sure I would want to go to a game. Now that corona cases are dropping like a rock across the southeast I am thinking differently. By October I think it will be a different world.

After seeing videos and pictures from college parties starting up and high schools starting up, don't count on it

If you went to games in February and March last season, the virus was in the building with you. Well before the general public knew it was here.

Especially during the last game of the season. Jeff Jones was hacking into a towel the entire game.
People were in attendance for the ending of the Ehsan debacle?

No it wasn't. But, I'm glad we're in full on idiot mode around here and the veil has been lifted

Whether you agree with them or not, no need to call people idiots for having a different opinion. Resorting to name calling isn't exactly a hallmark of maturity and intelligence either.

This isn't twitter. We've all been posting on here for years. A baseline of respect isn't too much to ask.

It’s been going on here long before the pandemic if you express a view counter to the party line.

Yes it was because I now know I had it in February and didn't miss a game. And before you whine further it was traced back to a nurse at UAB West that contracted it and it spread through the gym I belonged to. You can deny it all you want it doesnt make it less true.

There is no party line. That would mean all of the mods think the same way. I can guarantee you that is so not the case. That's just a convenient excuse of people who think the rules of this board and general civility shouldnt apply to them. In fact we've been very lenient. But it reached the limit last week so, the name calling and rampant douchebaggery is over. Be civil or be gone.

I suggest everyone refresh themselves on the AUP at the top of the board.

If you feel otherwise, you're always free to discuss by pming any member of the moderation team.

Lol. We've been social distancing at our basketball games for years. Once again UAB.......trend setting.
I think both sides are right.

COVID-19 was definitely in the US earlier in the spring/late winter. Wuhan is a city of 11 million people. Those people, and people from surrounding areas in China were travelling around the world for months before Wuhan was locked down. We know how infectious this virus is, so it's not hard to imagine the spread from people traveling from china late last year and early this year, with subsequent spread around the US well before we started to do anything about it...

That being said, it was definitely not nearly as prevalent as it is now.

and when we finally have excitement about our basketball program again we likely won't be able to go to the games en masse haha...

The NCAA will decide by mid-September whether or not the 20-21 college basketball season will begin on time or a short-term delay is necessary due to COVID-19, per release.
