Jimmy better be careful. He’ll be accused of not caring about his players
I've known about JB for over 40 years now and have never agreed with him more.
Slippery slope

Im not sure football and basketball should be cancelled this fall.

No one is saying sports should be canceled for the next 6-18 months. Way to exaggerate old man (Boheim, not OP).

Its a wait and see game.
It's a real possibility.
Not sure where the Truthbomb is
We can cower in fear or we can move on with our lives. I for one choose to move on with my live.

Then again I’m Presbyterian so when my time comes it comes and there’s nothing I can do about it.

We used to call it common sense.

Perhaps Boeheim (and others) have lost track of the main reason that colleges and universities exist, to provide an education to students. When there is significant risk to the students including athletes and non-athletes from engaging in games cancelling the games becomes the prudent response and is consistent with the institutional mission. Professional sports exist as a business with a mission to provide entertainment. There is an inherent difference.

I am not surprised that a coach would make such a claim off the cuff, but I would hope that upon reflection he would acknowledge the difference and the impact it would have on the decision whether to forge ahead with the season or not. And yes, before you start thinking I am anti athletics, I really do enjoy college football - pro not so much.
Boeheim should just retire and go home. He is old school, and that is out of style to this age and day.
Glad a few speaking out. I've just written off college football for year for most part, but highly unlikely in my view there is anything they can or cannot do that is going to significantly change the number of college students who end up contracting this. (Edit: Cut out explanation. Out of place on this board).
I'm outraged. Doesn't he know his players can potentially infect at-risk older individuals. He clearly doesn't care about the elderly because he's youn....

Wait. What?

We used to call it common sense.

If people in this country had common sense we would have gotten through this already and we'd have sports back this fall. Too bad folks think a slight inconvenience of a mask and social distancing is just too much for them.
I gotta side with JB on this one.

Last March, when college hoops canceled things, we were still learning about this virus, and who is at risk.

BUT ....

Now we know a whole lot about the virus, who is most at risk, and the best way to treat people who come down with the virus. The mortality rate attests to this.

Keep doing the smart things --- wash hands, wear masks, if you feel sick STAY HOME --- and we will be able to have the things come back that we want --- concerts, ball games, church services, tailgating .... sooner rather than later.
