Slow death?
I mean, I understand why Spring 2021 if you've already cancelled for fall. The thing is, if player safety is the #1 concern, how can you realistically play 2 seasons in one calendar year? IMO, if you shut it down then shut it down until Fall 2021.

This is what was left of NMS:

09/03 - at UAB
09/26 - at UTEP
10/03 - Texas State
10/24 - Louisiana

I'm not sure I understand the "can't play 2 seasons in 1 calendar year" crowd. In a normal season, they basically play year round anyways they just don't have games. I think guys are just as likely to get hurt shutting down for three months and then trying to get back to it with spring practice. I think an easy alternative would be to expand the redshirt rules for that fall season and allow some of the younger kids to play without burning a redshirt.

But almost all of these kids that are good enough to be D1 players are playing football in the fall, basketball or wrestling in the winter and then baseball or track in the summer.

If you were to cut this season down to 8 games plus a bowl and then do the same next season that is 18 games instead of 13 for a regular year. Cut out the bowls and you're at 16.
Yup. Uconn, NMS, UMass just straight up didn't have schedules to play. So long as the AAC is committed going forward, our season will persist...barring other factors...

Some media, former players and coaches have stated the concern for the body's ability to recover from a full contact sport between the spring and fall seasons. If it was easy to do then it would've been done already. Not only that, the mental and emotional recovery aspects add a different dimension. What if COVID is still around? These are grown "kids" not robots. I'm not saying it can't be done but I admit the more I've looked in to the merits I don't think it is a good thing. In particular, if everyone is concerned about player SAFETY then that should factor in just as much as COVID.
Concerns about Spring football from yesterday...

BYU- 9/18,9/26
Army 9/12, 9/19, 9/26
Air Force- 9/12, 9/19, 9/26
Marshall- 9/12/, 9/19
Middle Tennessee - 9/26

So, the Ohio Valley Conference is meeting tonight to determine if they are going to continue to plan for fall football or delay to spring. We may be down to only 8 conference games unless our AD can get someone else on the schedule. Would that be the first quadruple bye week?

9/3 Austin Peay
10/3 USF
10/17 @Tulsa
10/24 @SMU
10/31 Memphis
11/7 Houston
11/12 ECU
11/21 @UCF
11/28 @Temple
What’s the ratio of guys getting hurt in a practice setting vs. guys getting hurt in a game setting? This would let you know if doing a spring season really increases the risk of injury. For my money, I would bet it’s not all that different. You hear about guys getting hurt in practice all the time.
Why the fug are we not adding an OOC game yet?
Quote:NCAA Division I FCS football is reportedly on the brink of seeing total postponement of conference-play for the Fall 2020 football season. According to Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic, the Ohio Valley Conference is expected to postpone its Fall 2020 sports season, with hopes of the competition being held in Spring 2021. Schools are still expected to be allowed to play non-conference games this fall if they wish, per the report.

Should the Ohio Valley Conference indeed postpone, it would be the 13th and final FCS conference to officially make such a decision. The Southland and Southern Conferences already made official postponements on Thursday, bringing the count of FCS conferences to officially scrap their Fall 2020 seasons to 12 out of 13.

Zero OOC Games

Because we have a rookie AD?
Is the Austin Peay game still a GO if the OVC plays this fall? Maybe that's UC's one and only pre-conference game but it's far from ideal given the gap between that game and the beginning of conference play. With a 3 week window after that there should be opportunities for at least one quality matchup.

I'd feel better if Cunningham at least addressed this with season ticket holders and Bearcat fans. His silence suggests inaction when in fact he may be hot in pursuit of some replacement games. Let us know you're trying at least.

According to Fickell, he's spoken with Cunningham about adding to the non-conference schedule. Whether Cunningham has success in that remains to be seen. It looks like there are other schools out there struggling to put together a schedule or looking to add to one so I'm not sure why this hasn't been done now 2 weeks before the season. At this point I would have no problem with a home/home with Army, Air Force, or BYU.

2023 we need a home game and already have 2 P5 away games on schedule
2025 we need an away game and could use a higher profile game like Army or BYU
Why don't we just add Navy and Tulane to the schedule? Navy might be ambivalent, but Tulane should be open to the idea.

Ah yes, the infamous "Meeting to prepare for a Meeting," that we all know and love.

I know right? Just get it the fug over with already. I predict they gone...

9/3 Austin Peay
9/12 Open
9/19 Open
9/26 Open
I was around 29% that we would see Bearcat football this fall, now I am down to about 11% that we see Bearcat football. This feels like winning the AAC automatic bid to the NCAA tournament once the conference tournament was cancelled.

03-weeping because this is a really good Cincinnati football team.
