I called Upton about this issue as well as about Portland. Unbelievable to me that Yoho felt comfortable accosting someone this way. His apology was ridiculously irrelevant. Every congress member should condemn him in the strongest possible terms.

When oil prIces went South towards the end of April
and thousands of employees in the oil and energy
we're being hurt, AOC was ecstatic. So I don't use
any sexist pejorative, she is a malicious jerk.
Not aware of what you're referencing. Please provide a link.

Clever response.

She turned a personal attack directed at her into a response meant for "all women".

She should wear his words as a badge of honor. She has proven to be a fly in his ointment.

But victimhood counts as currency in her world.

And she has had some success leveraging that.

Wow yeah I definitely do not approve of her deleting that perfectly good tweet.
Dear Boca Rocket,
Ms. Ocasio-Cortez may have fumbled the way she could have responded, however, she is correct that the oil industry has many faults.
They have disregard for the environment by causing many pollution problems while drilling. Using their product causes continued pollution of our atmosphere, thereby causing global warming which is detrimental to the earth. They have made billions of dollars in profit, and if they were concerned about their workers could have paid them from their billions, or better yet, find an alternative to oil, such as hydrogen, which when burned does not pollute.

Many energy companies are diversified as to the
development of alternative forms of energy.
A guy I went to school with and use to frequent a pizza buffet with, is a major energy player. He's involved many facets of the industry. He is also a leading environmentalist. If you try to compartmentalize people involved with fossil fuels it would be a mistake.

I lived in NYC at this time. I celebrated too. AOC helped kill a corrupt giveaway to Bezos. They were going to get $3b in tax breaks before the deal was taken off the table. And they ended up coming to NYC anyway with $0 in tax breaks!

I can't tell from reading the article:

Quote:Amazon said on Friday it will open offices in New York City’s Hudson Yards neighborhood in 2021 to house its consumer and advertising teams, marking its most substantial expansion in the city since the reversal.

The move comes 10 months after the company cancelled plans for a headquarters in Queens after extensive backlash from residents and politicians, including Ocasio-Cortez.

This is the same deal?

Will Amazon's presence in NYC will the same as the proposed "broken deal" from months ago?
The effects of the pandemic(including working from home/renter-retail exodus,etc.)/protests-riots has on NYC might given Bezos an open door.

Two different projects.
The NY proposed Amazon HQ2 with its 25,000 jobs will now be built near Arlington Virginia.

This "new project".

How many jobs?

Correct! It's actually Crystal City, which is the neighborhood in Arlington County between the Pentagon and Reagan National Airport.

FIRE UP CHIPS! :)
Barack Obama released his list of endorsements, and noticeably absent is AOC.

That speaks to AOC's credibility....

Obama wants the same changes but believes they need to be at a slower pace to insure their long-term
implementation.
Didn't realize that Obama endorsement would carry so much weight with you GullLake. I disagree with a lot of his administration's policy outcomes, but I have to agree with you that he is a charismatic and capable leader!

Yes, I'm sure that's why he's been a corporate tool his entire career.
