What would be the best name for a new East Coast G5 Conference?
I know a lot of people are against this for reasons, but what makes football conference big like the ACC and SEC are large public schools with close regional games that create great rivalries. That is what a new G5 east coast conference can provide. Regional conference games that turn into great yearly rivalries and actual meaningful Thanksgiving Weekend Games and Conference games the average fan can get behind.

But, Big Atlantic Conference isn’t bad.
If UCF/USF ever got called up, those 10 teams would be a perfect, newly-formed conference.
Beasts of the East

No "conference." No acronyms.

Just "the Beasts of the East" or "The Beasts" for short

Market it WWE style. Stand out.
No thanks.
The X Conference.

I like the idea of this, but I think the only way you convince UCF to go for it is by pitting them against App instead of LU.

The goal of the conference is to increase rivalries and fans in the stands by having the fans in a G5 conference actually knowing the teams and having neighbors/coworkers/family members who went to the opponents school to create the same type of atmosphere and culture as the SEC and Big Ten. With that App would need to play Charlotte and Ga Southern each year. Also live programming is the important in the future and a conference that can have good attendance and have a great atmosphere will go a long way to get more TV money. You have to get rid of the small private schools that have no fans no matter the situation. ECU is always going to have a larger crowd playing App State or Charlotte or Coastal Carolina or James Madison than it will playing Houston or Tulsa or Tulane. Same goes for App State why play Texas State or ULM no one cares and no one wants to go to that game but a regional game with rival will increase attendance which makes for good tv. You don’t need large stadiums just full stadiums that look nice. Similar to MLS to create a good atmosphere for TV.

Not a snowballs chance in hell that UCF would go for this in any format.
I posted this in one of the other threadS on the same topic:

No AAC schools are leaving for anywhere but the P5. Let's throw out ECU and USF/UCF.

Name? East Coast Conference. No need to be cute. Just be simple and classic.

Except that name is already taken by a D2 conference.
I would go with the rap music influenced New South Conference.

This is true. So you are left with four SBC teams, three CUSA teams, one independent that nobody seems to want in their conference, and one FCS team that doesn't seem to want to move up. So why should Appalachian State leave a superior conference for this one?

Ah, in that case, make it Eastern Athletic Conference or Eastern Collegiate Conference. EAC or ECC.

If it was possible to start a new conference from scratch, with the parameters that P5 and AAC schools ain't joining, I would want ten schools:

FIU
FAU
Ga. Southern
Ga. State
Coastal Carolina

Charlotte
App State
ODU
JMU
Marshall

Annual crossovers: FIU-Marshall, FAU-JMU, Ga. Southern-App State, Ga. State-Charlotte, Coastal-ODU

I even made a map for it that I posted on another thread. Apologies for the redundancy.

That's correct ^^^ cheers:

And if there's no movement/expansion than we'll simply continue strengthen the AAC more = Power6

Is this set up really that much worse than the current Sun Belt? Seems to me like we'd be trading ULL for FAU (even trade), ULM for FIU (step up), South Alabama for Charlotte (even trade), Texas State for Old Dominion (step up), Arkansas State for Marshall (even trade), and Troy for James Madison (step down in my opinion, step up in others'). Doesn't sound much better or worse to me, just more of the same.

It's probably not better or worse as far as competition, but it's better for non revenue travel and regional rivalries. Sure, FAU and FIU are still far away, but they're of similar distance to the Texas and Louisiana schools. Additionally, App, Marshall, and I'll bet a few others recruit Florida more heavily than Texas. In fact, App has zero players from Texas and over a dozen from Florida.

I would miss Troy, Arkansas State, and Louisiana games, but that is what non conference games are for. It makes more sense to play Charlotte, Marshall, and even JMU, who, I think, would be the next App State in football at the G5 level.
There's a Division II conference called East Coast Conference and a Division III called Middle Atlantic Conference, so I would think those names are out of contention.
