Looking at football roster this weekend, no new names yet but height and weight of existing roster has been updated vs the spring roster. Harder to know what that means in this off season where most players have done a lot of training on their own. But its a slow sports month, so here are some changes vs spring roster.

OFFENSE
T. Johnston, QB, 215 lbs to 210 (loss)
S. Brown, RB, 230 lbs to 220 (loss), A faster Spencer would be great!
J. Brown, RB, 170 lbs to 175 (gain)
W. Pollock, RB, 200 lbs to 205 (gain), would like to see him at 225 eventually
L. Wooden, RB, 215 lbs to 205 (loss), Another slimmed down back.
A. Watkins, WR, 205 lbs to 210 (gain)
Rajae Johnson, WR, 225 lbs to 225. Posted this because some have commented that he is putting on a lot of weight and was possibly growing into a tight end. Doesnt seem like that trend continued, if this weight is accurate.
M. Bryant, TE, 230 lbs to 250 (big gain for JUCO transfer)
G. Prince, TR, 235 lbs to 240 (gain)
T. McDonald, TE, 230 lbs to 240 (gain)
C. Ragland, LT, 300 lbs to 310 (gain, needed to add 10 at 6-5”)
S. Vardaman, LT, 320 to 300 (loss, big man is getting in shape!)
Z. Taylor, LT, 335 lbs to 325 (loss, freshman losing extra weight)
Z. Aylor, G, 320 lbs to 315 (loss)
A. Smith, C, 300 lbs to 310 (gain)
M. Trehern, G, 310 lbs to 315 (gain)
S. Wells, RT, 330 lbs to 325 (loss)

Observation: our Olinemen seem to have kept weight steady or moved in the right direction based on height. It looks at first glance like these guys have stuck with an intentional work and eating plan in the off season to keep or move weight. Thats an encouraging indicator, although it may not truly correlate to conditioning.

DEFENSE
A. Moultrie, DT, 290 lbs to 285 (loss)
M. Fairbanks, DT or DE, 275 lbs to 265 (loss), likely dropping weight to elevate pass rush speed at a new position
T. Jones, DT, 285 lbs to 300 (gain), significant gain from the JUCO
J. Smith, OLB, 250 lbs to 255 (gain)
K. Sanders, OLB, 230 lbs to 250 (gain) another big gain from a JUCO. Must be eating better at UAB.
N. Eason, OLB, 200 lbs to 215 (gain) nice gain for the fast former basketball player turned pass rusher. This guy is interesting for the years ahead as he grows into the role.

**A. Wright, OLB, 235 lbs to 260 (gain) and grew from 6-4” to 6-7! This is a huge height and weight change. Makes me wonder if he grew 3” or if they underlisted him last year. Regardless, he is growing into a beast. Was recruited as a WR by ACC schools. Has the tools to work his way into a first or second day draft choice.

T. Johnston, OLB?, 240 lbs to 225 (loss), senior working hard in the offseason to drop weight. It would be great to see him live out his potential this year.
K. Moll, ILB, 215 lbs to 225 (gain). Whats scarier than Kris Moll last year? Kris Moll with 10 extra pounds. NFL will look at this guy. He is a playmaker and can cover in space.
J. Street, ILB, 210 lbs to 220 (gain) another LB adding bulk. This guy is an athlete. Looking forward to seeing him in the middle.
D. Oliver, ILB, 205 lbs to 215 (gain). Another player that I look forward to watching grow into his position in years ahead.
N. Wilder, ILB, 225 lbs to 235 (gain)
J. Rayam, OLB?, 220 lbs to 225 (gain)
W. Conner, ILB, 220 lbs to 230 (gain)
D. Turner, Star, 210 lbs to 205 (loss)
K. Swoopes, CB, 170 lbs to 185 (gain), big gain for the talented but previously thin freshman
TD Marshall, CB, 185 lbs to 195 (gain), big weight gain for a senior CB. I hope it was intentional.
CD Daniel, CB, 180 lbs to 185 (gain)
X. Lanier, CB, 190 lbs to 200 (gain) would still love to see this guy at WR.
Damien Miller, S, 195 lbs to 210 (gain), recovering from injury
G. Cash, S, 195 lbs to 200 (gain)
Damon Miller, S, 180 lbs to 195 (gain), big gain by the freshman..
Given the crazy circumstances, if these gains and losses were intentional that is a very successful offseason
A note on the weight gains. Guys were at home. The gyms were locked down, but the McDonalds drive through was open. Dont be surprised if some guys added a Big Mac or two to the waistline instead of somehow adding tons of muscle mass in a short period of time.

You are probably correct in some cases, hopefully not too many of em.

The good news is not many of these weight gains seem out of line. If somebody put on 30 pounds, I'd be worried about the Big Mac's. It appears most are 5-10 pounds, or losses, which should be solid almost all the way around.

They could drop five pounds in an outdoor summer workout.
Walkthroughs begin on Wednesday. Fall camp begins August 5th.

Agree. But no one seems to have ballooned and several seem to have moved weight in a desired direction, including down. Which are healthy changes we cant know in this environment. But not much else to see or talk about wrt the team.
Maybe guys did what they were supposed to and trained? There is always that.
