Well, what should AGG’s new team be named?
I was a Redskins fan, because I really liked the distinctive Native American imagery. Now I’ll just be an AGG fan.

Name suggestions.....
-Wackadoodles
-Fighting Possums
-Snowflakes
-Lobbyists
-Tan
I'm not Native American so I don't really get a vote about whether or not it's offensive. I think they should have dropped the "head" logo, and maybe all imagery (spears, feathers, etc.) and just stuck with the name. Use the "R" logo, maybe an alternate logo of a W or DC. Add a potato mascot if you want. Keep the color scheme.

It's my understanding that Redskins is the most popular nickname for Native American schools. If that's true, it's hard to believe that they were so offended that it had to change.
Leave it as Redskins and change the logo to a potato or apple.
Without having to change anything but the name, they should keep everything the same and be the Washington Originals. The helmet decal is the outline of an “O” anyway, and it still pays homage to the Native American history of the Redskin name.
We can all debate whether the name should be changed or not, but at the end of the day, money talks, & when the company your stadium is named for is threatening to pull funding, plus a number of other major sponsors, you're forced to change, for good or bad.

That being said, a number of fans have stated their support for the nickname "Washington Redtails," but the name is trademarked by an individual in the Washington area. Meanwhile, Snyder has the nickname "Washington Warriors" trademarked, which many speculate could be the name.

Money does talk and it is FedEx's, Amazon's, and whoever else's right to spend their money how they want. It is unfortunate that they got involved in a fight that they aren't a party of. It is also the consumer's right to boycott these businesses if we don't support their involvement.

I hate the name "Redtails". It sounds so bad. I get that it's a hawk (just what the NFL needs, another bird) and that there is a military influence there but it just sounds like an off-brand version of Redskins that you would get from a dollar store. Just go with Warriors and be done with it.
Warriors won't work because people will come up with a reason to oppose that as well. Something about promoting war, or warmongering.

Does a team really need a nickname anyway? Maybe Washington should be the first pro sports team to have no nickname. Some teams have no mascot or cheerleaders (Giants), or no helmet logo (Browns), so why not no nickname?

Golden State Warriors...? That's even a super sensitive NBA team. They changed "Bullets" (another poor Washington team) so the NBA has no problem making these decisions.

I'm surprised the Chiefs seem to avoid any criticism over their name/imagery. I guess due to not having a human logo.

I think it’s hard to justify a team name that is literally the color of someone’s skin. Then using a picture as the logo. I don’t really care either way but I call it like I see it and can easily see how that would offend someone.
