Full Version: #124 Old Dominion - College Sports Madness

"Old Dominion suffered their worst season under Jeff Jones in 2019-20. The Monarchs struggled early in the season, losing eight consecutive contests in November and December. They were able to finish .500 in conference play, somewhat salvaging the season. Still, coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2019, the season was a major disappointment. The previous lowest wins in a season under Jones was 18 in his first season in 2013-14, so with an experienced team coming back this season the Monarchs should be able to rebound in 2020-21."

Given our experience returning, I think we will compete for another championship if we don’t have key injuries. But wish we had more size/true center.
This is the year we’ve been looking toward for a while. I’d be bummed with anything over 100. If we somehow how got another big Id be hoping top 70.
I think it's a fair ranking and assessment.

Have to say I don't get all that excited about the notion we'll be better simply because we're a year older. Green absolutely crapped the bed last year after becoming a year more experienced. To many fundamental flaws both in JJ's coaching philosophy and in the players abilities. Can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear sort of thing. Now if any recruits surprise, then we may be talking, otherwise, I expect a very ordinary season, little above .500. Lose lots of early games, then fool many into thinking we've finally come together once conference play begins and the level of competition declines. #124 may be realistic, but what does that say about the state of the program.

Speaking as a slightly beaten-down American, it is my humbled hope only that we get to actually see whether our guys can better this projection.

At this point, I honestly would love to see "a very ordinary season, little above .500". I would be ecstatic with anything better.

I tend to agree. Our back court should be very good but we’re still badly undersized in the front court. We will have to consistently over achieve which is tough for any team to pull off.

Teams with experience do improve. Its a huge factor. But also key are that we have some real talent coming in and a returning Wade (hopefully).

124 isnt a bad prediction. I could see top 100 with a healthy team, including Wade. Green is a really good player that just could not get himself right last year.
If we don’t finish in the top 100, Jones needs to go.

Last year was abysmal, the only season worse in the last 20 years was when drunk was completely wasted at the games themselves, if we don’t see marked improvement, enough is enough.

The recruiting is still not up to snuff either, I just don’t see any value in what Jeff has brought/is bringing.

I think both basketball and football will not lose a game all season!

Seems more and more likely that football will go undefeated this season for the first time since 2008. Im hoping thats not the case for basketball.
