Big yikes.

Why yikes? The season doesn't start until November, at least. They're young and otherwise healthy. They'll likely be fine.

They obviously weren't doing all those careful things while home for the long break.
Who r the 4
The cluster effect would be bothersome, to say the very least. We keep our fingers crossed.

I know I've said this 100 times, but my 26 year old nephew and his friends had some strain of it in March...3 weeks out of commission.... and the smell issue reoccurs. Plus they don't even know if he's immune, or if anyone is, or if so, for how long.

There are a bunch of unknowns at this point that make family members, team members, family members of team members and coaches nervous.
Yeah...These kids aren't going to stay in a bubble...

Until we get the country in control these players are going to catch it.

That is why the NBA is essentially locking their players up.
It is not just about them

It is about older and more vulnerable people they encounter

This is why testing matters etc. After 6 weeks of death declines we are rolling back up. In April people looked ahead thinking the distancing and masks would help slow this. It did. Then impatience set in way too quickly

We are seeing the same stories out of Houston and Miami hospitals now that we saw from NY hospitals in April. It is almost as though DeSantis and Abbott has their heads up their asses. Looks like Abbott pulled his out, just a little late
Mississippi legislators have been meeting for a couple weeks in Jackson ---many without masks ...I guess they were going for herd immunity or something.

The Lt Gov is positive as is the Speaker of the House. Some of the legislators haven't been tested yet. I saw Governor Reeves make a public announcement on tube saying that anyone who has come in contact with a legislator needs to get tested.

“The situation that we have feared is upon us,”Governor Reeves said Wednesday.. “Please protect yourself. Please protect your loved ones. Please wear masks. Please try to stay home as much as possible.”

We keep hearing testing matters. But in the US we are already testing more and at a higher rate than 99.9% of countries on the planet.

It is unrealistic to think that any state/country will reach a point where we are testing everyone multiple times a week. And with so many asymptomatic positives, testing is not an effective strategy. It's why most countries have gone away from convenient testing for anyone, anytime.

And it was 11 straight weeks of declining deaths. I haven't heard (or calculated) if this week is #12 or not.

The NBA is not locking players up. They are simply telling them that if they leave the bubble, they have to quarantine (no playing) for 10 days. How many late night security guys will be making some nice tips, you think?

That is why I said essentially...

If you leave the bubble you cant play.

Point is, "lockdown" is a vast misconception.
And you can play, you just miss a few games.

At that age and in that physical condition, on average there would have to be 20,000 positive tests to result in 1 death.

Doesn’t matter. They will be fine.

Why wouldn't you mention first and foremost that they are all ok? Shouldn't that be the primary subject in your post?
Silverfield said on the radio last week that they are testing 186 individuals (players & staff) within the fb program. He didn't say how often but they've all had at least 1 test at this point. All have been negative so far.
All 4 of since tested negative.

Interesting.
Heard Cody Toppert on the radio a few days ago. He said they were tested every day for the TBT. After a bunch of negatives, they had one player test positive, and they got bounced. The player who tested positive tested negative 2 times in the 2 days prior. Then he tested positive. Then he tested negative 2 more times. He has no symptoms and they think it was a false positive. But it's done now.
