Before the hate Notre Dame posts

This is actually good for both parties

I assume ND will play both Clemson and UNC this year. It should help everyone's SOS.

I hope Swofford tells ND if they get a playoff spot and an ACC team doesn't they split their playoff money with the ACC.

This is a long game move.

I already started this topic **** you two04-cheers
Notre Dame needs a game on 10-3 for certain.

They may need replacements for Arkansas on 9/12, Stanford on 10/10, and their trip to USC on 11-28

I wonder if Syracuse will play home games since they are indoors and subject to NY 14 day quarantine.
First time since 1924 that GT and UGA does not play... But Tech gets ND in the Benz!! Go Jackets!!

ACC always the free hookup to ND. Always.

Who wouldn't want an extra home game against ND? Even in a shortened year. We'll give them 8 ACC games if they want them. The only question is who takes one for the team and goes to South Bend without a co-responding extra return trip?
Now is the time the ACC forces ND's hand to join the ACC for all sports....
If this is true .... Cards would need to pick up a home game ... among Pitt, Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, or North Carolina.

(Unless the ND games don't count as conference games?? Will they still be independent in this scenario?? Who knows .... but if that is the case, then the Cards would need two games ... 1 home, and 1 away ...)

Home Games
NC State
Florida State
Virginia Tech
Wake Forest

Away Games
Clemson
Syracuse
Boston College
Virginia
Notre Dame

You are correct.

But more than one thing can be true at the same time:

*It helps the ACC to add more ND games.....but without revenue sharing, it is trivial in the revenue gap situation.

*Helping them here reducing leverage to get ND to join a conference. Why buy they cow when you get free milk?

*ND is even less likely to join knowing they can get games in an emergency like this without a commitment.

*Swofford regularly gives away ACC leverage within seconds of getting it.

This situation with the pandemic is not going to force ND to join the ACC. Its likely a one season situation. Chrislords is correct, who wouldnt want to play ND?
That applies to other programs outside the ACC who would gladly schedule ND to help them with any scheduling issues. ND has plenty of options to schedule games

Agree.

ND is never joining the ACC in full, including with current situation
Hopefully, the ACC can get rid of divisions in the sake of all this and the rule will go to the wasteland.

LONG MEMORY
Putting a gun to ND's head serves no purpose. Once you make them "not special" what is the allure of a religious school in Northern Indiana just east of Gary?

I wouldn't want ND to join unless we lose a football member. Going to 16 with ND and another means probably a N/S split and only playing 1 game a year in the other division with no permanent partners as we're not going to 9 conference games.

So if VT is in the north they only play Miami, FSU, GT and Clemson home and away once every 16 years!?!?!?? Yeah you get to play ND every year but look at what you lose. It's even worse if all 4 NC schools are in the south putting UVA in the North. What a nightmare for them.

Right now we get to play ND every 3 years and the non-permanent rival, other divisional opponents, home and away every 12 years. That's still bad.

Really we should lose 3 football playing members, add ND and be at 12 football playing members. No permanent partners and play everyone home and away every 4 years.

We play @ ND, and lose a home game with South Carolina. Even when it isn't trying to do so the ACC always finds a way to screw Clemson over.

4 ACC teams have home games with SEC opponents this year - and 2 more have lucrative neutral site games. IMO that is why they didn't make a decision to cancel non-conference games like the Big Ten did - they hope to salvage those SEC games.
I have read where someone in the conferrence is floating an idea of three pods 5 with ND included.

The five pods play each other home and away, the best two records compete in Charlotte.

If this is being done under the cover story of saving travel that might mean:

ND, Louis, Pitt, BC, Syracuse
UNC, NCSU, Duke, VT, UVa
WF, CU, FSU, GT, Miami

I say ok but would rather switch UofL and WF.
