Pretty cool. Thanks for posting. It didn't have us last, so I'm all for it.

Spoiler...we'll be last.

Nope, 9th!

Movin' on up in the world!
So...
I suppose I can't argue with Navy being picked #5 overall. I would say #4 behind the three consensus leaders, but people like SMU's transfers, va bene.
But I do have questions...Navy defense is #123 in returning production, but we return 6 defensive starters and he gives us #7 in the AAC defense power ranking? Ummm, Imma need some detail on that #123 I guess.
Acknowledge that the loss of Spring ball hurts in replacing Perry...but honestly, I like the thought that the lack of practices for everyone else means that the unique offense has a lot of opportunity.

I guess we'll see
I really like our chances this year. Memphis lost Norvell and Cincy has to play us @ the Bounce House. We also seem to have the easiest road to the championship out of the everyone. DG will also be a sophomore and it will be Heup’s third year. Coaching is what will either make or break us. If we don’t win the conference Heup’s seat will start getting really hot because this should be his year to shine. Either way I’ll be ecstatic if we do have a full season, although I will miss attending home games very much
Really disappointed in Tulsa analysis. Basically, there is no analysis. Just ranting.

Tulsa started 4 Redshirt freshman on offense line plus 1 redshirt sophmore. This very young offensive line committed a lot of penalties and made mistakes. That was Tulsa's major issue in 2019. The second major issue was lack of a Field goal kicker which cost victories against Memphis and SMU. Tulsa signed a Field Goal kicker in its 2020 recruiting class. He can consistently hit field goals from the 40 and beyond.

Memphis, UCF, and Cincinnati are the favored contenders for the AAC football title. I don't disagree. But Memphis escaped Tulsa because of a missed Field Goal from the 29 yard line. The final score was Memphis 42, Tulsa 41. Tulsa beat UCF 34-31 (Tulsa leads the all-time series 8-3). For the Tulsa @Cincinnati game, the score starting the 4th quarter was Cincinnati 17, Tulsa 10. The final score was Cincinnati 24, Tulsa 13. ESPN headline read "Cincinnati holds on for 24-13 victory over Tulsa." Tulsa had 377 total yards despite 5 turnovers and Cincinnati had 317 total yards for the game. Certainly, not a beat down by Cincinnati.

Tulsa missed 3 Field Goals against #24 ranked SMU. In that game, Tulsa out gained SMU in total yards, 500 versus 440. The game went into 3 overtimes. SMU won 43-37. If Tulsa had a competent Field Goal kicker, there would have been no overtimes. But not having a competent Field Goal kicker does not speak well of the Tulsa Football coach.

When a team is on a losing streak as Tulsa has been, everyone pounces on with negativity. But it would not surprise me to see Tulsa competing for the conference championship in 2020.

As an aside, I think it speaks well of the depth and strength of AAC football when Tulsa is considered one of AAC's worst teams. This is the great difference between AAC and MWC. There are no automatic victories in AAC. Each win has to be earned.

The guy is 22-4 in his first two years. The internet remains a strange strange place.

Tulsa was right there in the Cincinnati game. Shamari Brooks is a beast.

The three teams we played last year with a pulse beat us largely due to our coaching. I’m not singing Heupel praises for his first year because of the team we had, he simply didn’t crash the Porsche. Frost was drifting with it. Play calling on offense was horrible all year last year, we’ll see this season
You can look at it as Tulsa needs a kicker.....or look at it as teams do not get up to play Tulsa.

Unfortunately we will be an out until we fire Monty. While it's true we did miss field goals to lose games last year, the year before terrible play calling cost us games. In fact since Monty has been at Tulsa we have consistently been close but no cigar, even our 10 win season included two losses that were decided on a play. Our coach is terrible at in game decisions and situational awareness/clock management.

After we fire Monty who ever comes in will have an immediate turn around. It is a shame Shamari Brooks has wasted a stellar career with this coach.

For fellow AAC fans, TU Coach Montgomery serves as his own Offensive Coordinator. At times, his play calling is predictable and unimaginative.
Jeez that evaluation was a disaster.

If we get to go to games maybe I should take a large sign that simply reads "Do a trick play". Maybe that will help? lol
Last year, despite a metric crap ton of injuries, the King controversy, starting a QB with just 4 games of experience who was injured most of the season, using up scholarships on a ton of starting quality defensive transfers that had to sit out a year, and red shirting everything in sight---we still somehow won 4 games and were within a score of most every game. Five of the 12 teams in the AAC won 4 games or less last year.

If this was a regular year, I'd confidently state that Houston will be in the running for the championship this year. However---who knows whats going to happen with Covid, forfeits, shut downs, etc. I mean---at any point you could be shut down and not be able to practice for a week or two. This year is going to be just too weird to really predict.

I have finally given in and started saying it:

It seems pretty clear to me: Navy, Army, and Air Force will be 75% of the CFP field.
1. We can and do lockdown our 20-year olds.
2. Because none of our players are on athletic scholarships (recruited athletes are on the same ride guys like me were) we carry deeper rosters, so even if our early opponents (Notre Dame, Lafayette, Tulane) infect our early starters, we have more next man to up.
(Cross posting myself from the realignment board, I DO, I really do try not to get sucked in over there)

Nope, 9th!

The Pirates were ranked 9th overall, but 4th on offense and a stinking 11th on defense. Based on last season, I'd say that's about right. However...if Coach H can make even modest improvements on defense we could be discussing the B word. I say "could" in view of the much tougher schedule.

It was frustrating that we got Houston at full strength (or nearly) with king still playing and everyone else got your b team.

Brilliant.

You've convinced me - I'm going to put a Benny down on each of the service academies to make the CFP.
