I am a believer in global warming and man's contribution to it. Problem is that we're about 20 to 30 years too late to do anything about it.

Quote:“The Arctic is figuratively and literally on fire — it’s warming much faster than we thought it would in response to rising levels of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and this warming is leading to a rapid meltdown and increase in wildfires,” University of Michigan environmental school dean Jonathan Overpeck, a climate scientist, said in an email.

Quote:The increasing temperatures in Siberia have been linked to prolonged wildfires that grow more severe every year and the thawing of the permafrost — a huge problem because buildings and pipelines are built on them. Thawing permafrost also releases more heat-trapping gas and dries out the soil, which increases wildfires, said Vladimir Romanovsky, who studies permafrost at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Lemmings over a cliff
Yeah! More farmland to feed the world!
I don't know...

Shouldn't we wait and see what Dr. Fauci has to say about it ?

Best idea yet
All we need is for a super volcano to blow and we would be back into an ice age. You see, I see climate as a cyclical thing and only natural things can really make a big difference. Do humans screw up the environment...YES we suck as creation stewards.
Where is the mean teenaged girl with Aspergers when we need her?

I'm sure China and India have message boards, go post it there. The Earth has never been the same temperature. There is no science that can PROVE humans have done anything to change the temperature on Earth. "Consensus" is not science, it is an election.

I've said it before that man plays a role. We also know that the sun is warming and it will only get hotter over time. I have no idea what things will look like in the future, but methane releasing into the atmosphere will affect the climate.

Also, the clean air and water acts helped to accelerate warming by cleaning up the particulates from the atmosphere - which helped shield us from direct sunlight. So a volcanic eruption will cool the planet for a period of time - until the particulates leave the atmosphere.

It's already too late to change any behavior to reduce carbon emissions - because NFW does China, India or the rest of the 3rd world reduce their emissions. The first world can't cut emissions far enough to counterbalance China and India. So "fighting" global warming is a political waste UNLESS we all go nuclear power. That won't happen, so nothing can be done.

I blame Dr Fauci. He's he one that told dudes it was ok to get a grindr hookup during the pandemic. All of that ass-friction has caused the planet to heat up.
Great news....in the not to distant future, the Earth will be made new again and it will be reigned by it's rightful King.

LOL! I thought you said Asparagus.
I do believe in climate change but I think the Democrats blow it out of proportion. In high school we had to watch Al Gore's movie & were warned there'd be no polar bears soon w/ hurricanes like Katrina every year if we didn't do something 10 years ago about it. Every little thing is cited as climate change: 90 degree day? That's climate change. Negative 3 degree day? That's climate change too. A cold spring? Climate change

Correct; however, it's still getting steadily hotter over time. Go far enough into the future and the sun will be burning hot enough to destroy the atmosphere and turn out planet into another Venus. We're talking few hundred million years for that to happen, but the point stands is that while the solar cycle continues the overall trend is a hotter sun.

So for us based on our current time horizon, the solar cycle is much more relevant then our growing sun. Despite that, you still have to be aware of the overall make up of the atmosphere. If the permafrost has large volumes of methane trapped, and it does get released into our atmosphere, we WILL observe the difference. I don't know for sure if it will be that much worse for us than not. Regardless, if the human race REALLY wants to combat it then we would have to change over to carbon free sources of energy IMMEDIATELY. That would be almost entirely nuclear energy - which we know the world does not have the stomach for. So...is global warming really as big of a deal as the U.N and various climate scientists make it out to be? IDK...but if we look at what is and isn't taking place to combat it - they don't give much of a fvck at all.
Believe in.

Words ascribed to science.

We have entered the new dark ages.

or... we could build a bunch of spaceships to fly only brown skinned people to Mars, to build a just new communist society.

These new inhabitants to Mars could plant one tree for every 100,000 thousand white devils who perish back on a super heated earth...

We have entered the new dark ages.

For true believers, it is a religion.

For me it is arrogance to think that humans have the power to change the climate (unless we're talking global thermonuclear war). Sure, we polluted the heck out of things in the past. Most countries have cleaned up their act regarding pollution.

Water vapor is a stronger greenhouse gas than CO2 but it is ignored because it is not man made. Many natural processes produce CO2 but some of it is generated by man, so let's go after that.

The evidence is not there to support their thesis and even some climate scientists admit that they have way overblown the threat and 'crisis' as they feel it is the only way to get people's attention. One big political proponent admitted it is not really so much about climate as it is about redistribution of wealth from the first world countries.

Methane is a known greenhouse gas and probably much stronger than CO2 so it bears watching if it is indeed being released. But the climate is cyclical, both in short term and the long term. The Earth will survive but we are all going to die.

I'm still waiting for some scientist to tell me what the optimal temperature is for the earth where I live. That's why they changed the name from Global Warming (glow bull) to Climate Change. Being nebulous makes it easy. Sure was easy to indoctrinate a whole generation with this nonsense. Some kids told me that they had seen that Al Gore film about 15 times before they even got to high school. Now, they are true believers in the religion.
