APPALACHIAN STATE at COASTAL CAROLINA

All-time series: Appalachian State leads 6-0

Coastal Carolina first fielded a football team in 2003 via the FCS’s Big South Conference. In 2017, it moved up to the FBS as members of the Sun Belt. Since then, it’s played Appalachian State three times — twice in Boone and once at home in Conway. The two also met in 2012, 2006, and 2005 when both were FCS programs. These contests were all played at App State. The closest the Chanticleers have come to besting the Mountaineers was a 37-29 loss in 2017.

GEORGIA STATE at APPALACHIAN STATE

All-time series: Appalachian State leads 6-0

Georgia State kicked off its football operations in 2010 as an FCS program and landed in the FBS via the Sun Belt in 2013. It’s played Appalachian State every season since 2014, three games apiece in Atlanta and Boone. The nearest it’s come to breaking the streak was in 2016 when it fell 17-3 at App State.

SOUTH ALABAMA at GEORGIA SOUTHERN

All-time series: Georgia Southern leads 6-0

South Alabama first fielded a football team in 2009 and made it to the FBS ranks quickly, joining the Sun Belt in 2012. Georgia Southern, on the other hand, has been appearing on the gridiron since 1924, moving up to the FBS Sun Belt in 2014 after winning six FCS National Championships (from 1985 to 2000). All six games between the Jaguars and Eagles have been played as conference games, three apiece at each school. The narrowest margin came last season when Georgia Southern won 20-17 in Mobile.

LOUISIANA at TEXAS STATE

All-time series: Louisiana leads 6-0

Texas State moved up to the FBS in 2012, spending its first season in the WAC and then joining the Sun Belt in 2013. Since then, it’s played Louisiana in consecutive years and lost on each occasion. Technically, the Ragin’ Cajuns are 7-0 vs. the Bobcats — the very first win, in 2013, was vacated due to infractions. The closest Texas State has come was a 42-27 decision at home in 2018.

LOUISIANA at APPALACHIAN STATE

All-time series: Appalachian State leads 8-0

Appalachian State joined the FBS ranks in 2014. Since then, it’s clashed with Louisiana six times during the regular season and twice (in 2018 and 2019) in the Sun Belt Championship game. The narrowest margin came in last season’s conference title game, a 45-38 win for the Mountaineers.
I Approve of this message! The big question is which one of the teams in the conference who have never beaten APP going to be the first to win. Most would say Louisiana.

Jags should've won that last one but special teams stunk it up We're getting closer though.
so App's conference losses (since 2014) are:
1 to Ark State
1 to South Alabama
1 to Troy
1 to ULM
3 to GS

Am I correct?

Also, it's kinda funny South is the only team that hasn't beaten us in football because they're also really the only team that can claim to have our number in both baseball and basketball (really the only team that has our number in baseball at all).

No one deserved to win that game.

You had 4 ******* first downs and 3 of them were on TDs.

That was a garbage ass game all around.
Won't be another one like that. Next one will be different. Expect better qb play, better kicking.
Good press I guess...
55% of South's offense for that day was on 2 plays.
South had 3 passing plays of 60 or more yards all season and 2 were in this game.

The Jag defense was the only unit that played a decent game. Sucked that we had to watch that crapshow in OT.
That had to be the most embarrassing display of football by either team I have ever witnessed. Someone had to lose, and of course, it had to be us.
Love seeing the lopsided records, but it's hard for me to think about Louisiana as a "lopsided match-up". Yes, App owns the W/L stat but almost all of these games have been hard fought competitive games, especially since Napier got to UL. I would say UL will be the first of the three (easy pick) but both CCU and GSU are improving. I honestly don't see any SBC team as a gimme. Even the traditional bottom dwellers have huge potential up-sides and things can change quickly in college football. The future of the SBC could indeed be very bright! I think App will remain at (or at least towards) the top for a while, but time will tell.
Louisiana is the ultimate monkey on our back team. That waid we also haven't beaten App St, GS, or i think Troy since joining the conference. Have kept it close with the last three at least.
I enjoy being in the Sun Belt more than our old conference. Sure any given year a middle of road team in our old conference may have a good season and challenge us or App but usually it came down to one of the two of us winning the league in our SoCon days. I know App has enjoyed a lot of success in the Sun Belt but I still don't get the feeling we are a top heavy conference which makes each season much more interesting at least to me.
