The famous singer Gladys Knight did Aunt Jemima TV commercials more than 30 years ago. The ads didn’t get into it, but Ms. Knight gave some media interviews where she talked about the history of the Jemima character and how the image had been updated long before then (and she was speaking in the late 80s).
