Thought for sure we would be left out.

Lafayette starts out at 6th? Wow! congrats to the Ragin' Cajuns!

We're waaaaaaaaaaay down at 23rd. Hmmm....well, nowhere to go but up! Just as long as we go at least 7-5, bowl, and make it 7 in a row, it'll be a good season. That is if there even is a season such as that.

I’ve never understood a G5 T25 rankings. The T3-5 or so are in national discussions year to year.

When I went to college in the 90s, the best day of the week was Wednesday. That's when USA Today published the Sagarin ratings. VCU in my time there I think got into the AP's others receiving votes category once. The internet was still a dial-up thing. Nobody was trying to rank or rate every dumb D1 team there was, and if they were they were nobodies that we couldn't read even if we wanted to. Except Jeff Sagarin.

So we'd tear into the red section, making a beeline for that week's ratings. Was VCU in the top 150? Top 100? Where were Richmond and ODU? What big-conference schools were behind us? VCU's four spots ahead of Clemson? VCU's an ACC-level team!

Everyone want their entertainment quantified, but it's particularly so for sports fans. When you're not getting in the main polls, you look for some other measure that shows how where you slot in the world at large, your conference, your region. There's plenty of computer systems and individual rankers that take a crack at 1-to-300-however-many teams-there-are, because there's an insatiable demand for them.

The eighth-ranked team in the G5 poll probably isn't anywhere in the big ones. But it's still someone acknowledging where you are. ODU's three spots behind an Appalachian State team that's getting AP/coaches' votes? ODU's almost a top-25 level team!

As the haves continue to consolidate the finest treats for themselves, this is a pop-tart for the have-nots. It's not the stuff of Instagram pictorals, but it's something.
Got it, makes sense as everything’s relative,

I usually hate being ranked high to start but knowing Napier is the man on the rise I’m gonna just trust it’ll work out. Good showing by cusa.
clt demands justice!
Meh... this is a big, fat nothingburger.
Something I just surprisingly thought of is what happened to the Orlando Sentinel preseason countdown. Often didn't agree with his predictions but always looked forward to it anyway. Everyone got into it and it was fun to see how fans reacted to it.

The Orlando/Sun Sentinel are so far left, they are sheltering in place for the next 24 months.
This list mentions schools the writer has played with on NCAA 14 recently.

Lol. He for sure had a bias for certain Florida schools but I don't thing FAU was one of them. I do miss it though. It helped pass the downtime.
Houston all the way down at 21. I’ve been thinking the Coogs are a possible upset special in the Bayou Bucket game season opener. Might have to actually venture over to TDECU stadium for that game.
clt asks about the Orlando list, that was a big deal
Didn’t we just beat down on some SMU while missing 3 of our best players and our head coach. I don’t know why they’re so high on them, especially after they lose their OC.

I was a freshman at Marshall in 1998 so checking the Top 25 Rankings was a weekly event for us back then.

SMU and Tulsa were big surprises. They are too high. I haven’t followed much how the AAC schedule will work with 11 teams, but everyone not playing UConn now lost a free win. I won’t be surprised if the AAC beats up on itself this year giving the other G5 conferences an opening for the NY6 bowl slot.

Ouch! Figured 'Louisiana' would hurt those little brothers up in Rustonia!
