I just watched a replay of last week's Men's Basketball Podcast with TK and some of the players and picked up the following "nuggets":

*While they might not start this upcoming season, TK expects both Ryan Rollins at the 1 and 2 Guard positions and Seth Milner at the 4 position to play "starter" minutes.

*Mattia Acunzo has reported that his foot is now "pain free", but TK is still not sure about his prognosis because of not having him on campus to monitor his Rehab as he has been home in Pennsylvania for several months.

*There is a "chance" that Luke Maranka could Redshirt this upcoming season to help further his development and to help balance out the roster. This will be dependent on how much Jonathan Komagum is able to contribute at the Center position. TK said that Komagum is ready now to contribute rebounding and defensively with his shot blocking ability, but is somewhat of a "project" on the offensive end.

*AJ Edu said his knee feels great as he continues his Rehab and is looking forward to the upcoming season. TK said that Edu told him recently that he is at around 80% but is very optimistic that he will be at full go come the beginning of the season. He still thinks the injury is somewhat a "blessing in disguise" as it allowed Edu to develop his upper body strength and overall game with the help of Coach Massey.

*Ra' Heim Moss will be a Academic Redshirt this season due to being 1 credit short of eligibility. TK loves his toughness and athleticism and compared him to a cross between Justin Drummond and Rian Pearson.

*TK would like to bring in 3 players for the 2020-21 recruiting class and is looking at a Point Guard, Wing Player and a Post Player as top priorities. However he said that if the Top 3 players on their board decided to commit during the early signing period, he would take them no matter what and not worry about filling their top priorities.

*The Non Conference Schedule begins with a Home Game against Valpo on November 10th. The schedule is set other than finding another Non Conference game because Detroit asked to be dropped from the schedule due to "overscheduling". Detroit will now play at Toledo during the 21-22 and 22-23 seasons.

Some interesting tidbits in there, especially injury updates, Maranka RS and two frosh getting starter minutes. The last would almost certainly that we’d be going deeper into our bench than in years past.

Deeper bench next year . . . I think I've heard that before.
It would be great to have a healthy Acunzo for ‘21

Milner at the 4 is a surprise but that is fine. I do think they will be deeper. Last year no one thought we would have depth (or at least I didn't) and we were right. If Acuzno is healthy I think we could see him at the 4 spot at least on defense a lot.
TK also had a interesting comment when he said that by not having a normal recruiting season this spring and summer (no AAU Tournaments), it is a plus for Mid Majors like Toledo. His reasoning is that high Mid Major players that programs like Toledo target in recruiting will not have the opportunity to be seen at Tournaments and Camps where their performances dictate getting scholarship offers from Major Programs who had not seen them previously or had them down in their pecking order. He told a funny story where last summer he was somewhat upset that Ryan Rollins had such a great performance at the Peach Jam AAU Tournament because he was worried some Major Programs were going to step in and offer him. While that never happened,he said with a grin on his face that he wished Rollins would have suffered a "minor injury" that prevented him from playing as well as he did at Peach Jam!
Millner is a junior, and started as a frosh in D1.

Rollins is really good, and a big guard. I'm not worried about his youth.

Will believe it when I see it with Acunzo, but good to hear that he's feeling good.

Maranka has so much potential i'm fine with however helps most with his development. He'd still be pushing everyone in practice, so, if Komungum can be as productive, it makes sense to play him.

Good for Moss to learn and grow and then take over some of Littleson's role the following season. Moss is a talented kid too.
I fine with Milner being a 4, weatherspoon was only 6'5" and had no outside game and did fine. Having AJ back and healthy is a bonus and getting backup minutes from Komungum that are quality would fill out the 5. Really excited about the backcourt athletically. With Jackson, Littleson and Saunders there is good talent. Jamere Hill and Charles Jones could give some backup minutes. I don't see a problem with TK getting a rotation of 7 or 8 that is athletically and lengthwise is good.

Not saying I am not okay with Milner being a 4 just surprised as I thought he was a guard at CSU. One thing we can all agree on is Coach K knows way more about basketball than I do. I know he is a D1 athlete. Height does not bother me would rather have athletic shorter 4 than a too slow taller 4.

Millner's height at PF doesn't concern me so much as his weight. I like inside guys who weigh in at 220 or so. He's listed at 195lbs. It's nice to have players inside who can push people around. In his favor - he was an outstanding high school football player at wide receiver and TK likes that "he brings a lot of toughness". He also brings some valuable D1 experience from his time at Cleveland State.
Millner played a stretch 4 more or less in juco. he has guard skills on offense but really digs in on defense. i think the fact he is pretty tough and athletic (not quite Willie athletic) gives him the capacity to play the 4 in the MAC. As a 4 he's a plus ballhandler and shooter, as a 3 he's average in those areas. Personally, I prefer the 6-7 225 lb old school power forward, but the game has changed a bit, and if the kid can make the offense better and is willing to guard people coach k will play him.
What is the link to this? I really want to listen to this.

One more question I listened to the podcast and he mentioned going to all of a local players games and they still didn't get him. Have a couple of ideas but anyone know who the local player is?

2020 class? Holyfield, Fulcher and Nelson, but I can't think they're needing that kind of attention. Maybe the sophmore at Northview? No one else coming to mind.

He didn't say 2020 I was thinking it might be Holyfield other possibilities from other years Rotroff and Vince Williams.

Did UT recruit Delonte Brown that hard? I thought he should have been someone that was recruited when he was in HS.

I know he had a UT offer, but you never know how much they wanted him.
