Outside linebacker Kebreyun Page is representing Rice in the CUSA eSports Challenge tournament, which was advertised as having started on Monday.

The CUSA announcement had scant information beyond the tournament's bracket and that it was single elimination.

When I asked for details -- like what game would be played and would any of the contests be streamed -- a CUSA staffer replied with a direct message that "Due to NCAA regulations, we are not allowed to release the name of the game being played, however I can tell you it's a very popular football video game and just let you guess from there!

"Because each student-athlete is at home in quarantine currently and they all have different streaming capabilities, we will not be able to stream the contests. We will, however, be posting highlights of each game along with bracket updates periodically.

"Unfortunately there is not a set schedule since each student-athlete's individual schedule is very fluid. We will be posting highlights within 24 hours of each game being played!"

On Tuesday, the results of two games (each with a minute of highlight video) were posted: ODU over Marshall, 38-0 ... and FIU over WKU, 17-3.

Rice's first-round opponent is USM.

We're cheering for you, Kebreyun!
LaTech (Texans) beats UTEP (Vikings), 42-17.
Kebreyun piloted the 49ers to a 36-yard TD pass to tight end George Kittle with 1:23 left in the game for a 14-10 come-from-behind win over USM (Ravens).

WTG, Kebreyun!

He'll next face LaTech, which had beaten UTEP, 42-17 (Texans over Vikings) in its first-round game.

The 49ers also won in the other game posted today: a 14-0 win for UTSA over North Texas (Cowboys).
In his quarterfinal match, Kebreyun had the Kansas City Chiefs vs LaTech's Baltimore Ravens. Four picks and a porous defense led to a 42-zip Ravens rout, sad to say.

Other QF results:

UTSA (Eagles) over UAB (Seattle), 35-14. Russell Wilson threw three picks.

ODU (Seattle) beat FIU (Minn), 35-7. The Vikings secondary left too many Seattle receivers wide open.

MTenn (Texans) over FAU (Minn), 27-21, in Overtime. The Texans' 53-yard FG attempt as time expired in 4Q bounced off the crossbar. But it didn't matter.

The Semifinal matches are LaTech vs. UTSA & ODU vs. MTenn.
