Havent seen much about UAB football or basketball lately in the print version of the local fishwrapper. Its time to fill the sports section with sports news rather than articles about the Bear's tailor, etc.
Fantastic article... Ertel and Jackson are gonna make a nice duo in the backcourt. To get these guys over the offers from Arkansas, Ohio St and others is pretty exciting.

Circling the drain of apathy - yep! A change was needed.

Quote:No matter how you want to spin it, Ehsan got a raw deal when UAB fired him on Friday after the sudden cancellation of college basketball’s postseason. He deserved a chance to go out swinging

I guess we've always been at war with Eastasia.

I was worried at the time that Fumbles had fired Ehsan without a serious upgrade in hand. He deserves an extra doughnut.

I've never met the guy (Ingram) but from the very outside looking in, he seems to have done a pretty good job. The real credit may go to the Foundation but quite a lot has gotten done during his time here.
Interesting:

Quote:If they can’t attend, then Kennedy will figure out a way to make the most of the situation. Personally, I’m not opposed to outdoor basketball games on the Campus Green if it comes to that.
“He just constantly explained how much he loved the school, how much he believed he could make this thing into a powerhouse, and just really regardless of conference, he thinks he can build this thing up into a big-time program, and I believe him." - Ertel, speaking about AK.

THAT is what I've been wanting to hear from UAB: The vision and the belief of Gene Bartow, projected to a younger generation of players, fans, and the rest of the world. UAB and The Blazers are destined for something greater.

First time I met him was when UAB played UTSA (I believe). As I live out of town and couldn’t make it to any of the prearranged tours, I’d never seen the new practice facility. I was able to get a morning tour of the empty facility on game day. I was told that Ingram was touring the UTSA AD & other officials around the bldg, so we just needed to stay out of their way.
At one point their large group had come close to crossing paths with our small group (just me, daughter, wife and tour guide). Ingram left the UTSA big wigs standing there and came over to greet my family, and spoke with us for quite some time.
I was very impressed with our interaction
When it comes to Ingram, I think its time to let bygones be bygones. He's made a lot of good moves since football came back. He also seems to be a pretty decent guy and promotes our program pretty well. Can't live in 2014 forever.

*I know he hired Ehsan, but a large majority of us totally supported that decision.
BTW, The roster is updated(well, the names anyway...).

Ingram was the easy target for Blazer fans to take out their frustrations on when the real bad guys were the BOT and Prez Watts. For some strange reason people here wanted the newly hired Ingram to go against the very people who hired him.

While he's not perfect he has probably been one of our best ADs aside from Bartow.

It’s not hard to be the second best UAB AD

Dang! Go Blazers!!!
What other teams will be good in CUSA next year? With this roster, I can't see us NOT being in the mix to win CUSA..

I’ve heard WKU and ODU are expected to contend along with UAB.

Im assuming WKU will be good again. Not sure what kind of turnover everyone else had. I think for us it will really come down to chemistry and how quickly everyone jells. Definitely looks like we have the talent.
Yes. Ingram is the best AD we have ever had. He has been instrumental in the resurrection of football and now basketball. Dude needs a fat raise.

Seems like a large infusion of talent in CUSA. Most Alabama colleges have greatly improved, too. Of course, this is all on paper...
