Governor Prtizker announced Restore Illinois on May 5th. It's a 5-phase reopening plan. Illinois is currently in Phase 2 until at least May 31st.

https://coronavirus.illinois.gov/sfc/ser...Context=S1

Phase 1 - Rapid Spread - strict stay at home, only essential businesses open
Phase 2 - Flattening - non-essential retail open for curbside pickup & delivery. Golf & fishing open. Face coverings required "when outside the home."
Phase 3 - Recovery - manufacturing, offices, retail open with capacity limits. State parks open. Gatherings of 10 people allowed. Face coverings still required inside "Face coverings and social distancing are the norm."
Phase 4 - Revitalization - restaurants & bras reopen, travel resumes, child care & schools open under guidancee. Gatherings of 50 people allowed. "Face coverings and social distancing are the norm."
Phase 5 - Restored - fully normal

But here's the kicker - the requirement to get out of Phase 4 and back to normal is:

Quote:HOW WE MOVE TO THE NEXT PHASE
Post-pandemic: Vaccine, effective and widely available treatment, or the elimination of new cases over a sustained period of time through herd immunity or other factors.
:

If that definition was applied to most other viral diseases... we would be in Phase 4 forever.

Most viruses don't have vaccines or "effective and widely available treatment." Sure, we have vaccines for a handful of viruses. And we have retrovirals to treat some (such as HIV, although HIV retrovirals are so expensive that they would probably not be considered "widely available"). But those are few and far between. Most viruses don't have either a treatment or a vaccine. For most viruses, our bodies either learn to fight it off on our own or we die trying.

And unlike Ebola or HIV, the novel coronavirus spreads too easily to hope that we can eliminate new cases.
Same in Michigan. 6 Phase plan, Phase 6 fully reopen requires exactly that wording.

What I don't get is the phase prior to that. If 50 people can gather, why not 100 or 1000? If you can reopen to get to 50 with masks, why aren't they doing that now?

The leftists are getting their talking points aligned. Wonder who is writing it?
Unlike Michigan, the residents off Illinois, couldn’t care less. They welcome their Governor keeping everything shutdown. The folks in Michigan are smart enough not to vote for liberals this November.

Whitmer’s actions have moved Michigan into the Republican column come November. We could well see the same thing in Pennsylvania.

Illinois is simply a lost cause. Liberal leadership could turn the state into something that looks like the south side of Chicago on a good day and the folks in Illinois would keep voting for liberal morons.

Dallas and Houston may pass Chicago by 2030 in population.

I can tell you in Michigan she does have her supporters. I'm not convinced she's lost the state. That being said, Michigan does also have a large conservative population, and we're fuming at her.

I saw on TV there were protests in Illinois. They are in a similar boat to us, I think: a large rural conservative population at odds with all the liberals in a megapolis (Chicago & Detroit)

You folks brought the state home in 2016. I would expect rural areas to carry the good guys to victory this November. 04-cheers

i'm on board with that.
I live in Chicago and people are getting fed up with it. How on earth did we go from flatten the curve to there has to be a cure? Crime will continue to rise the longer people are forced to stay home and not work. Not to mention the long term financial consequences. Chicago much like New Orleans thrives off tourism dollars. If all the other tourist destinations open up except Chicago then it’s over. The idea that there has to be a cure to go back to normal is absolutely asinine. If some of these liberal fortress cities continue to lock their people away for years then i expect a mass exodus to red states or cities that are open for business.

So what you’re saying is. The people that have kept voting liberals into power for decades are going to leave their “liberal utopia” and go to a Red State then start the process over.

Precisely, it’s all part of pritzkers plan to unleash the liberal ideology on the Bible Belt.

It only proves the depth of the 5th columnists working within our government through the Democratic party to destroy capitalism and open the United States to totalitarianism. Everyone should be taking names down with regard to those in political power seeking to destroy the economy to achieve an alien agenda whether it is corporate or political in nature. These people need to be held seriously accountable if we survive them.

Americans were once not so quick to forgive and live and let live. These are enemies of the Constitution, enemies of the state, and traitors.
am sure the good people in Peoria and Springfield are thrilled with the restrictions on their freedoms.
