Chris Willis (DE) is transferring to ECU as a grad transfer for 1 final season.

What is the story on this guy? DL depth is/was a major problem for ECU heading into the offseason. Do you think he will be a good player in the AAC?

If I remember correctly, he was a solid starter for a year and then tore his ACL and hasn't been the same since. Hasn't really had any playing time since then.
If healthy he’ll be a solid contributor. Teammates and coaches seem to really like him as a person as well.

word on the street is there wasn't consensus from Dr's on whether he could or shouldn't play due to his injury. App's team was a little more conservative.

also third hand, but he was a leader and great in the locker room and has a great family, so i think regardless of if he plays, he'll be a benefit to the team.
To piggyback off what others have said, Willis was a regular contributor on the 2-deep and won the starting DE spot the last handful of games in 2018. He was set to start at DE in 2019 before getting injured.

From what other, more connected, App fans have said, Willis has seen a handful of doctors seeking clearance to play with the doctors supposedly being split 50/50. App’s medical staff would not give the green light.

By all accounts CE is an outstanding teammate and leader. As a booster, you love to see kids come in, compete and graduate. The Pirates are getting a good one! He’ll contribute to the program whether he sees the field or not.
