The men’s basketball program just posted that the team finished the year with a 3.22 gpa average. Furthermore, 8 of the 11 on the roster finished above 3.0.

Congrats to the players, and to the both of the two coaching staffs for keeping the guys’ heads in the books to finish out the year.

That speaks well of the young men on the team. Considering what has happened to grades in the past when there has been coaching changes mid year. It also speaks well of coach Burke staying on top of things. Good job all around!

Precisely my thoughts. If I were coach Siddle I would be dialing coach Burke to offer a personal thanks. Just my opinion though, obviously.

Impressive and speaks to the young men in the program. They really are a great bunch of guys and are easy to cheer for so this is just terrific. That ball stops bouncing for most but the academics are a constant and why you should be here. I stress academics with my 2 young men and athletics comes second. It has to be stressed and is a mindset. You may not achieve your goal of being a professional basketball player but you can control your future beyond basketball. Great job guys, I'm very proud of you in the classroom and how you come off in interviews and the way you represent this university on and off the court. Always give it your best!!

I can't stop my sons now 1 on 1 so youth is served. My oldest is a 19 year old junior engineering student at State and he's at the rim and my 13 year old is just too quick and athletic for me now. I give it my best, but my 56 year old body just isn't quite quick enough and I can't jump high any more. Sucks for me, but it's been great having them home and playing some 1 vs 1 in the yard. And, the oldest is talking junk to me now which stinks because I don't have an answer for his length and speed.
