Not the least bit shocking. They're going to cut anywhere they can to try and stem having to cut programs

Grad asst told me last week WMU took all the coaches phone and car reimbursements away. Once this thing simmers down look for many WMU coaches to bail. If NCAA grants the request to allow two sports to be dropped and still maintain D1 status, big changes coming to Western.

The NCAA already denied that request - & I hate to say it but I agree.

Bail to where? Not going to be different-better other places.

Yeah, every school is dealing with this. That says a lot about the coaching industry right now if they are saying they'll bail because their $120K salary isn't enough for them and they need phone/car reimbursements.

The big concern would be them bailing to a G5 school that is in trouble, but can still pay more.

If anyone thinks this idea of cost cutting is unique to WMU... they are head buried in sand. WMU is already shedding cash like rats jumping off a sinking pirate ship... It's the nature of the beast at this level. WMU is not making enough money to compensate on its own.. we need donors to step up and off-set some high ticket items. Larger P5 universities are flush with donor money... WMU... not so much.
PJ had the right idea... he was fleecing alumni for **** every day on the job.. proving it was working and pushing the idea of a self reliant program back to the University...
Times have changed.
