We need new topics so top 3 Rocket games you’ve seen in person. Maybe also throw in where you were sitting or standing. Mine are pretty big:

1) UT vs OSU basketball 1998 (student section, halfway up so I had an awesome view)
2) 2001 MAC title game vs Marshall (I was working the concession stand for my college group but I managed to sneak out every few minutes to catch some game action. Also had a Marshall fan tell me to **** off while his team was ahead...
3) WNIT championship game. ( Upper deck and somewhat high up. That atmosphere was awesome)
1. BG game at UT where they had over-inflated balls. We were way down and I was next to a BG fan in the northwest corner of GB. He turned and said “This is gonna be ugly!” In the second half our tailback, who shall not be named, ran amok and I turned to the guy and said “You’re right. It got ugly”.

2. Bob Conroy steals the ball from Jeff Montgomery and pulls out a UT win with Wienert screaming “The knife is still in the body”! I was in the BG student section at Anderson.

3. Gary DuBose jumps 7’ in a meet in Savage. UT record at the time. I was standing next to the HJ stanchions officiating.
1. Women's NIT championship.

2. Rocket men's upset previous year's national champions, Indiana, in the first game at Centennial (now Savage) Hall.

3. Women winning three tough games to win the MAC tournament a few years back.
1) small balls
2) NIT run
3) Many jumble after that so I'll go with most easy to remember, that new food stand in the SW corner of the stadium.
1) The 35-0 years watching Chuck Ealey and the gang
2) UT vs Iowa at the NCAA’s
3) Tie - Women’s NIT championship game in a packed Savage Arena and UT vs Pittsburgh with Gradkowski to Moore TD pass
Very interesting new topic". Some of my favorite sports that I remember:

1. I attended a UT track meet. Chuck Friedman (HOF) was running against Odell Barry (sp) (track and FB/Jets AFL). Barry ran a 9.1 100 meters but the time was not a world record because they said his time was wind aided.

2. Tulsa/Toledo FB Glass Bowl....negative F temperature...Jerry Rhome QB/Howard Twilley WR

3. Toledo /Penn State BB, Old Field House. The game was sold out and the fire Marshalls closed the gate for safety reasons. UT lost!

4. 60's Toledo Wichita State FB.....Bill Parcells was on the team. UT lost!
I don't think I was ever able to attend any of the iconic wins in person, but have a couple basketball memories from when I was a student.

- the 71-51 win over Illinois in the Glass City Classic. That was before the shot clock, and Illinois got up a point or 2 and tried to go into a 4 corner, but UT stayed in a zone and never budged. After Illinois got antsy, UT quickly took the lead and never looked back, totally dominating the (ranked?) Big 10 team. As I recall Henson said post-game that Toledo was the best team they would play that year, although the Rockets ended up with a poor MAC record.

- I also recall a game against EMU maybe(?) where the Rockets were down 1 with a few seconds left, and Gast grabbed a missed FT, turned and hit Tim Reiser in stride around half-court. Reiser took like 1 dribble, swished a 35+ foot running jumper and just kept running off the court into the locker room.

I am probably misremembering what actually happened in those games, but that's what my brain remembers.

Val Williams of UT ran a sub-9 second 100 yard dash against Findlay once but it wasn’t a world record because the officials quickly discovered they used the wrong finish line @ about 88 yards. Gave us all a little thrill for a second though.
1. Lady Rockets WNIT championship victory.
2. Rockets beat Pitt. Grads to Moore. Best College football game I've seen in person.
3. Rockets Beat OSU in Savage.

In top seven. 4. 1995 Las Vegas Bowl victory. 5. When we were down big vs Marshall and came back. 6. The 40 something beatdown over Marshall. Can't remember the years? 7. The first victory over Purdue in 93 (I think?). Meger to Goodwin all day, I think 14 catches that day. I was there.

Nerd up the middle is in top 10, along with a few of the close BG victories in the 90's. The Minnisooota victory under Stutz was sweet. There was a game in the 90's when Brock Kreitzburg snagged a one handed TD for the Win. I think it was over Miami, that was sweet.

I didn't see the PSU victory in person. If I was there, it would be top 3.

Forgot about the Marshall game 42-0. Can’t remember how many times Leftwich was sacked that game. Same year UT beat Penn State. Might have been our best defensive team ever.

Hard to come up with only a top 3.

I was fortunate to see all the home games during the Ealey/Long years when I was in school then.
1) Gradkowski to Moore vs. Pitt
2) The 3rd Quarter against Marshall in the Glass Bowl in 2001
3) Women's NIT Championship

It just irks me looking back how many teams got left out of Bowl Games that deserved them a hell of a lot more than last year's team who suffered the same fate. That 2000 team not getting a game to cap everything off was a travesty.
I envy a lot of you for getting to see some of these epic games in person. For the older generation, I would’ve loved to catch the Rockets beat Indiana with Bob knight the year after they won the title.
I’m still mad I didn’t go to the Penn St game. I was a senior but didn’t have the road trip crew that I have now.

Surprised no one mentioned the win over Michigan. Walking out of the Big House to basically silence was something I’ll never forget...

Away games never even crossed my mind but that would be a solid 3rd that I couldn't separate from the rest. My best memories of the game were the donk and how gracious several UM fans were as I headed out. I honestly do not remember the silence. Probably couldn't hear it over my own shouting.
I saved a lot of football press guides over the years. Now is an especially good time to look through them. In one of the guides I saw a game that I attended as a student. 1963 UT/Bugs at BG. I remember before the game it began to rain. We had a really good running back at the time.... Jim Gray. They used to say: "all the way with Jim Gray". I think Gray had the longest run from scrimmage during this game.....record lasted for awhile. We were in the game for all four quarters but we lost 22-20 in the last couple minutes. Frank X was the coach.

The Battle of Rt - 25. Would that have been TU/Bugs? When was the name changed? How long did it take to get there? Did you have to change horses?

Just what we need now. More of your oft-color posts! I often don't read the crap that you post.
Fresno (Cal Bowl) 1981 - Toledo over San Jose State
East Lansing (basketball) 2002 - Toledo over the Spartans
Savage Hall 1999 - Toledo over o$u

Great memory! That was my first UT game ever. I was 10 and my whole family went. UT led near the end and Grey had a big game but BG got a score with time running out. I was very unhappy!
#1 - Toledo beating Michigan
#2 - Toledo beating Pitt
#3 - Toledo beating Buffalo with last second shot by Juice Brown.
1) 1975 old field house South Carolina versus Rockets don't remember final score but Mike Larsen tore up Alex English and late in the game South Carolina's Center Tom Boswell decided to bring the ball up against Larry Cole who picked his pocket and took it in for a game clinching layup.

2) same BGsucks game as listed above we are down big start of the second half and crush them.

3) Championship game versus Marshall Never will forget kicker taking the ball and running it in for a touchdown
