This is the biggest whiff in data science, epidemiology and public policy in modern history. Made worse by miserable politics and a media that can't control itself. The sooner we all figure this out, the better.

Well so far 61,000 people have died in roughly 1/3 of the time with all the social distancing and shutdown guidelines in place. Still dont understand how people compare this to the flu and then state numbers that point to the contrary or how people cant fathom that some disease can be more infectious than the common flu.

Because people/groups aren't using consistent data. The actuaries use certain data, the doctors use something else, and the politicians use their own data experts. None are paying any attention to the others, yet. It's a ***** competition. It's like that Trump expert that says the virus WILL RETURN in fall but has no data to support such a statement. Flue we have history to look back on, Covid we don't have that.

A simple example (and true) Back in early Feb. grandma's family was told to expect she would pass away by May. I believe she was 83 with a DNR. She got the virus late Feb in a nursing home and died a week later. Her death is being counted as a Covid statistic. If Covid didn't exist but the same happened because of the Flu, her death would have been classified as a natural cause. So arguing over Covid vs. Flu is kind of pointless but looking at the hospitalizations is much better indicator or where we are headed.

Truth. Docs are exposing reporting discrepancies across the country. Many deaths not caused by COVID are being attributed to COVID. This is being done to provide cover for the fearmongers, IMO. They must justify the hysteria.

You’re entitled to believe whatever conspiracy theory you want, but this suggestion that COVID-19 deaths are being purposefully inflated is a talking point of the alt-right and unsubstantiated. If anything, virus related deaths may be substantially undercounted. We’ll know more in 18-24 months what the true count is when things settle down a bit. In the meantime stay safe.

Unsubstantiated, my ass! Again, you are unaware of what is happening. My information is coming from docs in the field. Yesterday, Pennsylvania dropped 200 COVID deaths from its tally due to faulty reporting. Had it not been for docs and coroners protesting, the egregious "errors" would have gone unexposed. This is not an isolated incident and is the tip of the iceberg. I can provide you with videos of docs across the country complaining of this. You can also look them up on your own, if you can find them. YouTube has been busy deleting such videos as they say that they are contrary to WHO reporting. Translation: They run counter to the globalist agenda for which Google is a staunch advocate.

So, what? Why do we need to dance to the WHO tune, especially since it has been so wrong?

Does everyone in Pennsylvania looks like Ben Franklin?

Tell it to the other fans of your conspiracies. I am aware of what’s happening, very aware. And you’re being duped, with other individuals who are prone to swallow the same swill you’re peddling. Deny the experts (including those involved in the WHO) at your own peril and risk.

Interesting now that WHO is praising Sweden's response to the pandemic which has allowed the people to control what they should and should not do based on guidance from the government and not mandating orders. As someone who has many Swedish counterparts and has been there many times I think there societal traits make them a perfect place to try what they have been doing, but not sure if it would work in a country like the US where we have a very different mindset. We also have a lot more unhealthy people in the US than in Sweden as well which would make the overall numbers of serious cases much higher here.

My sources are docs in the field, not ivory tower academics who don't have a friggin clue what is happening on the front lines, just like you calling my claim that docs are being furloughed and hospitals are closing "alternative reality" until I provided photographic proof. Sad as hell!

Show me where I said I "hate" Fox News. I don't hate Fox News. I find a video here and there I find interesting and credible. I just don't watch Fox News on television and haven't for nearly five years. THAT is what I said! So, you are wrong again. Big surprise.

Furthermore, I am not sure why the FDA is now warning about an already FDA-approved drug. Was the FDA incompetent whey they originally tested and approved the drug? Whatever the reason, the drug is saving lives. If you have COVID and are in very critical condition, do you want to go on a ventilator (the odds of being removed alive are about 10%) or try a drug already approved safe by the FDA and which your doc has had a 100% success rate with? Go ahead, tell me you prefer the ventilator.

So, we should let people die without giving them the drug that has a great success rate because the FDA, for whatever reason, is flip-flopping? Really?

You are referring to Dr. Fauci as that “Trump expert”?

Fauci isn’t just a “Trump” expert...he’s the leading U.S. expert on the research, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. He’s the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and has been so since 1984. During that time he has served six presidents, and overseen research and solutions that have effectively responded to HIV/AIDS, Ebola and the Zika virus. He’s chief of NIAID’s Immunoregulation Laboratory which leads the world in research on pathogenesis and treatment of immune-mediated and infectious diseases.

When Fauci speaks about COVID-19 I think we should all pay attention and listen. And when Fauci says the contagion will be here in the Fall I don’t think he’s sharing that thought because he’s pulling information out of his arse.

But yeah...think of him as that “Trump expert”. 07-coffee3

1) Fauci talks to much. I don't want to hear "my opinion" or "I believe" from an expert. Save opinions for the talking heads. 2) Fauci plays to the liberal media camera's. I think Trump keeps him around as a deflection tool. I lose "respect" from people that say "data, data and more data" then turn around and make the "I believe or I feel" statements. I expect facts from the official experts so I can have the tools to think for myself.
The federal government is classifying the deaths of patients infected with the coronavirus as COVID-19 deaths, regardless of any underlying health issues that could have contributed to the loss of someone's life.

Dr. Deborah Birx, the response coordinator for the White House coronavirus task force, said the federal government is continuing to count the suspected COVID-19 deaths, despite other nations doing the opposite.

"There are other countries that if you had a pre-existing condition, and let's say the virus caused you to go to the ICU [intensive care unit] and then have a heart or kidney problem," she said during a Tuesday news briefing at the White House. "Some countries are recording that as a heart issue or a kidney issue and not a COVID-19 death.

"The intent is ... if someone dies with COVID-19 we are counting that," she added.

Sure let's hear more from the President and less from the experts. He's so honest and truthful.

The last three administrations have thought favorably of Fauci. Thought he was a big asset to the company. Leaned on his expert advise and knowledge. This administration does not like him because he won't say it's just going to go away, or injecting disinfectant will get rid of it, or here's a miracle cure, or there are less than 10 cases and it's just about gone, or it won't come back in fall.

And the consistency of the president - "if not for my one decision, 2,000,000 people would of died." He's all over the place with what he says.

It appears you don’t like the message being shared so you’re condemning the messenger.

As far as data, and statements related to its interpretation, I believe it’s rather important that we hear from the experts. When Dr. Fauci explains what he “feels” the data means it’s from his perspective as a world-renown epidemiologist. That is, after-all, what he is doing when he shares his “professional” opinion. He’s not making up and talking about random stuff just to irritate you, Fauci’s “feelings” about what he believes is happening with this pandemic aren’t those of some random dude being interviewed on the street corner. He knows what he’s talking about, and the more we listen and pay heed to the leading scientists like Fauci the sooner we may see the end of this scourge.

The alternative is to elevate lay opinions of people who lack any expertise in interpreting scientific data over that of the experts. While I’m all for freedom of expression, substituting lay opinions over that of the experts is not only misguided but dangerous. We need to hear more from Fauci and his colleagues, not less, and to heck with anyone who thinks they talk too much. To me they are helping Americans understand what’s happening and what we’re up against.

People are frustrated. I get it. Real economic and emotional havoc is being inflicted on millions of Americans. We all want it to end and we’re impatient for a cure. Yet being resistant or tuning-out the message from the experts will only delay the cure. It will only add to the terrible stress we are all experiencing. Adults yelling and stamping their feet at other adults rarely solves any problem. Our doctors and nurses and scientists (like Fauci) are not the enemy of the American people. Neither are our elected officials encouraging us to keep safe and save lives by adopting practices such as wearing masks when in public or standing 6’ apart at the grocery check-out line.

We’re all in this together, and people that are now going apesh*t shouting that their freedom has been taken away because they can’t get a haircut or that our doctors and nurses are inflating false death counts to pander to a “liberal” media are making this difficult time even harder.

Stay safe everyone. Stay strong. Stay rational.

I liked his bridges vs bunkers outlook. Let’s concentrate on those at risk-the elderly, the sick and people in poverty. And those not at a high risk need to set the example of taking care of themselves as things start to open up. Eat better and exercise so we have less sick people.

As far as sports. I hope each school and pro league does what is best for them. If it’s shortened seasons that is fine by me. We played five games our first year of football and I enjoyed them all. We’ve had strike shortened seasons in pro sports. If some schools in New York, California, Virginia or wherever shut it down that is okay. If others want to play a shortened or delayed season that is okay as well.
