Hello everyone. Things are kind of slow, sports-wise, so I figured I would open up a Free Talk thread.

How's everyone coping with the quarantine? I'm still going into work, but a whole bunch of people have been staying at home so it's actually been kind of nice. I have the entire shop to myself so I can just do my work and listen to music. Obviously I'm hoping they eventually decide to send us home with pay, like they did in our California facilities, but I doubt that will happen.

The biggest pain in the butt for me has been finding eggs. I usually eat between 4 and 10 a day, so I buy the 5 dozen cartons. I went to three stores the other day and couldn't find eggs anywhere, so I had to go to the community food co-op and buy the fancy eggs for $7.99 a dozen. Thank god I'm still working.

Really hoping next college football and basketball season aren't impacted too much by all this. I'm super excited about Andy Kennedy, and am looking forward to trying to schedule a trip to Birmingham where I can see a basketball game on Thursday and then a football game on Saturday.

What are people planning to do with their alleged COVID relief checks? I'm thinking I will pick my highest interest student loan and pay against it.

Stay safe, folks.
I have lost a ton of money in the process so $1000 won't do anything for me.
I am able to work from home & have been for the last week or so however it gets old.
Every now and then you want to get out and go to work.
The kids school year is over outside of online work. No more band, banquets, soccer, etc.

The normal stuff you would get at Sam's isn't there - TP, Paper Towels, cleaner, etc.
I've had to scrounge around to find this along with bleach, etc.
I have a brother in law who works part time at Marvin's that plans on bringing us some big packages of TP.

I'm not overly excited about Kennedy myself, but you all already know this.

I do believe it is time for everyone to get back to work and for UAB and others to come up with remedies, solutions, vaccines, etc.

If it is anything like the flu shot you will have tons of people lined up to receive them.
Have the Blazers received their New Orleans Bowl ring?

You haven’t lost anything, unless you were dumb enough to sell.

Green Wise in Mountain Brook always has plenty of eggs, btw.
I haven't sold & it probably will rebound but it will take some time.

Kay Ivey just shut down a lot of stuff until April 17.

Some of these businesses will not be able to survive.

What, objectively, made you overly excited, or even optimistic, about Ehsan?

Not every company will survive. It really depends on what you are invested in. You might or might not make back your losses. Not every stock is going to recover like it never happened

The two main tax supports for Alabama public education (K through grad schools) are the 4% state sales tax and the 5% state income tax. BOTH are negatively affected by the present shut down so the SETF may be cut for 2021-2022. It has taken from 2008 to 2020 for the SETF to bounce back to the 2007 level of funding, and now we suffer this new threat to our system. The spring legislative session is going to find major funding challenges hitting it right in the face.
Likewise towns like Trussville are going to be facing shortfalls due to the lack of tax money coming in.

You can't take away a month's worth of taxes from towns and expect them to go on as normal.
