Boots on the ground tell me it’s beautiful at Reckling tonight.

Might as well win?
No score thru 3. Owls have out hit the Ags 2-0, but have also out K’d the Ags 4-0.
Collins 2 out solo shot gives Owls lead 1-0 in B4. Call the game now!
Owls on 3rd pitcher to start 5th. All squad approach tonight I guess. 1st two, Deskins and Bordwine, were lights out.

3rd pitcher, Burgess, not so much. Double double ties the game. No outs. Steal of 3rd and 4-3 out Aggies up 2-1.
Duluc homer ties it at 2-2. Now in the 6th inning.
1 out double single puts Ags up 3-2 in T7.
When is the last time we didn't strikeout double digit times in a game? And, once again, the frequency of striking out looking at balls down the middle of the plate is mind blowing. Edwards may be the worst culprit, but certainly far from the only one. When is Bragga going to get guys to change their approach at the plate, especially with guys in scoring position?
Owls put 2 on in B7, but 2 out K ends inning without a score. 2-3 going to T8.
In T8, single, E7, single scores a run. Another single leads to 2 on, 1 out.

Kane in for Larzabal.

Walk loads bases with 2 outs for Ags. And unlike the Owls, the Aggies get a 2 out hit with runners in scoring position. 6-2 Aggies.

CS ends T8.
Kane was pitching better earlier this year. But now he doesn't seem that reliable either. Not that we've been in many positions to win games, but it appears another issue for this team is we don't have a closer.
Owls go 1,2,3 in B8.

6-2 Aggies going to T9.
Still 6-2 going to B9.

Need at least a 4 run rally. Not holding my breath.
How frustrating must it be for these kids, who have been parts of winning programs--that's why they are here--to have to go through this?
I don't have any SOS data to back me up, but we haven't played a bad team all season. We shouldn't get too morose about losing to Cal Irvine, UT, TT, and A&M.
Disappointing, yes -- but I still have faith we'll be a good team by season's end.
Here in Austin, UT has played almost nothing but creampuffs all season.
2-14
I missed because I had a cold and I was afraid I would be locked up if I dared to cough. I saw the last 3 innings of a Saturday game at A&M against Army after the end of a conference there. Army was within a single run but the last out was made at the warning track.
Hopefully by moving on to conference we can turn a new page. There were some encouraging glimmers of hope last night.

Rice baseball used to be the only sport where we were equals or had a leg up on P5 schools. Now it's a joke like the rest of the programs. Time to drain the swamp.

Here's some SOS data: the Owls have played the 11th-hardest schedule in Division I so far according to both Kenneth Massey's and Boyd Nation's ratings systems (Massey is out of 301 teams and Nation's is out of 293 teams). By comparison, Texas is 96th and 128th, respectively. It looks like overscheduling might be part of the issue of Rice's poor record.
Looks like we won't lose more than 14 this year.
