A beautiful weekend was made ugly by the basketball teams performance Friday and the baseball team losing 13 straight.
For basketball the real season begins the 1 and done MAC Tourney and we have a long way to go.
The Women's team has a home game Monday night and should get to Cleveland.
The Convo will be full this week as Saline has moved the Boys Basketball District to the Convo for the anticpatory big crowds for the Emoni Bates show. Last week AA Huron in front of 5,000 fans beat the defending division 1 state champs.
Final thought
Could emu football be the Iowa of the MAC. Long tenured coach, competitive, but never elite and a usual bowl contender? I would be ok with this given our history.

Iowa? no. Kansas state? Yes. CC is a discount bill snyder and i mean that will all the love in the world.

Some quick numbers: he's 13 wins away from tying Jim Harkema and 17 from Boisture. 11 losses away from rynearson to be the coach with the most losses (he's currently 4th). 2 conference wins away from rasnick (he's currently third). and he's currently 28 games away from Harkema on games coached. hes probably a conference championship or two away from getting a statue.
This goes under What Wednesday's and "March Madness" (the old definition).

The NCAA tourneys will be played without fans. UGH!!!!
EMU is suspending face-to-face classes until March 31st. 9 of 15 public universities in Michigan have done the same (at least for some amount of time).
CNN article indicating that 'Television is king' in today's sports era. Would rather have March Madness before empty arenas than cancel.

Sports are noticing that attendance is down but rights fees for live events are up (think MACtion during November). The networks are supporting pro and college sports nicely.

This "March Madness" Monday is weird. No Ken Pom, etc but fed funds rate cuts, odds of a recession, stock market futures, as well as the continuing discussion of the pandemic and epidemiology.

Looks like CJ Hunt is in the transfer portal
O/T but still interesting... (This is from the main MAC board):

RE: Coaching Hot Seat
"Michigan Assistant and Former Western Michigan Player Sadie Washington took his name out of the running for the Bronco's Head Coaching position according to thewolverine.com."
Not surprising. Makes a lot of sense.

Sitout a season as a redshirt and then apply to transfer as a grad transfer.

Interesting. Washington may be one of those guys that's more comfortable in an assistant role rather than being the HC.

Wonder why. Hunt saw a lot of PT. Perhaps his role was going to be diminished in 2020 with added depth at DT?

Agree.

His situation is very different than say Parris'.

Apparently Parris and Murphy worked out a nice deal where he'd stay on the roster, redshirt, graduate and be free to grad transfer.

Win-win for everyone including EMU which is in the business of graduating students.

No reason for him to have to transfer a bunch of times as an undergrad so that he can play ball and get a degree.
MAC related, Justin Turner from BGSU is transferring

As much as I bang on the old boys network of MAC basketball coaches, their job is not an easy one. Turner is very good, probably not NBA quality, but still good enough to play at a Big Ten school in front of 10,000+ fans every night and the media coverage that accompanies that. By contrast he could stay and play for Huger, win a MAC Championship, enjoy 2,000 MAC crowds and get an occasional mention in the Toledo Blade.

Yep. Sad thing is BG had a winning record. Plays in a very nice arena. What 75 miles from Detroit.

This isn't a down program.
