NU lost a tough one to Western Michigan 17-16.

NU was down 12-6 in the 8th inning but scored 4 runs to cut the deficit to 12-10.

The bullpen gave up 4 in the bottom of the 8th to make it 16-10 WMU.

In the top of the 9th, NU rallied to score 6 runs to tie it at 16-16.

But in the bottom of the 9th, closer Brandon Dufault walked the leadoff hitter and he scored on a sacrifice bunt that was thrown away by 3B Ian Fair to give WMU the win.

NU made 5 errors in the game, so the fact they even had a chance to win this was a miracle. But this team has some serious grit and fight.

Corey DiLoretto went 3-5 w/ 2HR, 3 RBI, Jared Dupere went 2-5 w/ 4 RBI. Kyle Peterson went 2-6 w/ 3 RBI and Scott Holzwasser 2-4 w/ a HR, 2 BB, 4 R.

Freshman Thomas Balboni got roughed up allowing 6 runs on 6 hits in 1+ innings and fellow freshman Jake Gigliotti gave up 4 runs, 2 ER in 3 innings.

NU heads across Florida for a 3-game series at Florida Atlantic starting on Friday.
