Hank passed away 30 years ago today.

Eric "Hank" Gathers (February 11, 1967 – March 4, 1990) was an American college basketball player for the Loyola Marymount Lions in the West Coast Conference (WCC). As a junior in 1989, he became the second player in NCAA Division I history to lead the nation in scoring and rebounding in the same season. Gathers was a consensus second-team All-American as a senior in 1990. His No. 44 was retired by the Lions, who also placed a statue of him in his honor outside their home arena Gersten Pavilion.
NICE
I was watching when Bo shot his free throw left handed to honor Hank. I cried like a baby.
That one heck of a team they had with Bo and Hank together.

They just didn't play good enough defense as a team. Often they did not even attmept to defend at all. Their defense was jacking up 3 pointers after the other team scored. Half the team would snowbird on defense lol.

It would have been sweet to see them play UNLV with Hank in the tourney that year. They had no chance without him.

I watched that, too. My first thought was, "what is he doing?"

And then he hit it.

They were on a roll in the tourney, but as fate have it they were bracketed with UNLV. And that was the Larry Johnson/Stacy Augman/Greg Anthony/Anderson Hunt/Elmore Spencer team.

People forget how dominate Larry Johnson was. His SR year he averaged 23 ppg and shot an insane 66% from the floor. He even shot 82% from the FT line. They had 3 guys who averaged over 2 steals per game. A 4th player averaged 1.5 steals.

Still the baddest team I ever saw.
30 years. Hard to believe. What a great tribute by Kimble for his friend.
I watched one of L-M's NCAA games from a condo in the Bahamas while I was on my honeymoon. So, yeah, my 30-year anniversary is coming up.

I also recall that Gloria Estefan had a bad wreck that week, as I got Miami tv channels and it was all over. IIRC her tour bus got hit and she broke her back.

But I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday.

That is my #1 dream matchup

Joey Dorsey going head to head with Larry Johnson and Augman in the paint.

As great as UNLV was I don't think they could have handled Rose and CDR.

Augmon would put the clamps on CDR. Rose...now that's another story
