I'm a little frustrated.

I don't know what to think of this Bama team sometimes. Here and there we'll play excellently against quality competition and half the time we're blowing games. I think part of that is the injuries and part of that is the new HC. The early part of the season wasn't that great anyway.

Also seems like the SEC deserves a couple more slots in the Tournament. They seem to be predicting 4 and I think 6 is more than reasonable.

Anyone else a little frustrated with the league this year? Seems like there are several quality teams and everyone is beating up on each other. We're not being helped by the fact we don't seem to have any truly elite teams this year. With that said, doesn't seem like there are any truly elite teams across the nation so I don't see why that should really hurt us very much.

Totally frustrated but for slightly different reasons. I do think the conference took a step back from last year. That said the ACC wreaks this year and they'll likely get 4 to 5 in as well and head to head we've done well. Ditto in head to head with the Big 12. It's hard to say how the Big 10 will rate 10 in. Some of their top teams have taken some knocks against teams from other conferences including ours.

What I see in basketball in general are these factors:
1. Very little game to game consistency for any teams, not just SEC schools.
2. The most horrendous officiating of my lifetime. Case in point from Auburn's loss last night at Georgia was that one of their better players took 3 steps for a layup on one occasion and took 4 on another and nothing was called. One of our players took 3 steps carrying the ball on his hip and passed it with no call. Yet on another occasion our big guy under the basket rebounded the ball took 1 step for a layup and was called for travelling.

I'm not objecting to the outcome of the game because Georgia outplayed us, but my point is I've seen these and worse calls across a number of conference games we've played. The officials tend to call far less fouls on the home team. I've seen a couple of teams get hosed at Auburn and I've witnessed Auburn getting hosed in 3 locations on the road the worst being at Missouri where their guys were holding on passes, shoving defensive players out of the way with their free arm while dribbling and hacking shooters under boards with no calls and if one of theirs drove the lane the whistle blew whether the guy was touched or not. Even the guys calling the game commented on it, which is unusual and while not calling it one sided they simply said it was bizarre. That frustration led one of our players later in the game to step on a Missouri players leg on purpose, a heinous act, but one that probably doesn't happen with an evenly called game.

As much as my wife and I enjoyed last year's basketball season we both agree that it practically unwatchable this year and that in all games (not just Auburn games) the officiating is so poor it makes the games practically unwatchable, so that's what we are doing now. We aren't going to watch. We made our minds up after last night. We don't enjoy games where we can't enjoy the flow and play because of the officiating, or lack of.

I think the SEC will end up getting 5 teams. UK and Auburn seem like locks. LSU and UF are likely in too. Mississippi St, Arkansas, Alabama, and South Carolina are all probably fighting for a 5th seed.
