https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basket...rting-them says the Ivy League doesn't let graduate students play sports. Therefore an athlete who has finished three athletic seasons and an injury redshirt season can play one season as a graduate student only if he transfers. The article was written about Men's Basketball, but I'm assuming it applies to all sports. Ivy League players who are academic seniors/athletic juniors can enter the transfer portal during their last possible Ivy League season. Other schools can scout these players just like they can scout high school players. Quinton Adlesh started at Columbia and played in four games as a freshman before a season-ending injury. After complete seasons for Columbia in 2016-2017, 2017-2018, and 2018-2019, he transferred to USC where he is now. While playing for Columbia in 2018-2019, he decided to enter the transfer portal to see what teams were interested. To remain focused, when coaches contacted him, he said he would talk after the season.
