The last meetings with NU and Hofstra were also the first two games of the Burke era. Thus, we have a "baseline" to compare to against opponents Burke has already faced as Interim Head Coach.
NU's loss to us began a stretch where the Huskies lost 5 of 6 contests and plummeted to 7th place. This could be the worst season for Bill Coen, though of course a lot of that can be attributed to bad luck. All 7 of the Huskies' losses have been by 6 points or less. Meanwhile, they have a 33 point win over Drexel and a pair of 16-point wins over Towson and JMU to their credit. Thus, their "net points" in league play is +59. This is a staggering scoring margin for a team with a 5-7 CAA record. If scoring margin was all that mattered, NU would be in 2nd place right now, not 7th. And don't just take my word for it. Ken Pomeroy notes the following:
Thus, some "correction" is due where the Huskies should rise up the standings by the end of the regular season.
Hofstra, meanwhile, is every bit the top team in the league that they were billed to be. The Pride are currently on a 4-game winning streak, with 3 of those victories by double digits. They barely escaped with a 63-61 victory in Trask back on January 16th. This time the game might not be so close as Hofstra looks to grab the season sweep.

Ken Pomeroy notes the following:
Quote:Only two of the nation’s 353 Division I teams are having worse luck than Northeastern through last night: UT-Arlington, which has endured eight losses by six points or fewer and four by three points or fewer, ranks 352nd in the luck ratings while VMI, which has absorbed eight losses by six points or fewer and three by three points or fewer, ranks last.
Thus, some "correction" is due where the Huskies should rise up the standings by the end of the regular season.
