Realistically with 7 games to go, the best case scenario for the Rockets is an 8th Place Finish and a Home First Round MAC Tournament Game on March 9th. In looking at the current MAC Standings, it basically comes down to the following 5 teams battling it out for 1 spot (8th place) and a home game:

8. WMU (4-6)
9. Ohio U )3-7)
10. Toledo (3-8)
11. Miami (2-8)
12. EMU (2-8)

If Toledo beats Miami tomorrow night at home and WMU on the road on 02/22, they will win the season tiebreakers with both teams along with Ohio U which they already beat. That leaves EMU who Toledo needs to beat on 3/6 to earn a season split with. If all that happens, I think Toledo has an excellent chance of finishing in 8th place based on all of the above teams remaining schedules. While finishing in 8th place is not an ideal situation, I would take my chances on Toledo winning that 1st Round Home Game. Then it’s on to Cleveland where they will have to win 3 games in 3 nights to cut down the nets. Winning 4 games in 6 nights with their “depth” issues is going to be a major obstacle to overcome, but unfortunately, it is most likely what they will have to do!

Best case scenario would be going 10-8 and grabbing the 4 or 5 seed.

If you're in the other boat, best case scenario is 3-15 in the league and bye bye to the coaching staff.
Even than UT retains the coaching staff.
Not sure Toledo’s chances are much better playing a home game. I’ve seen us play at home.
we've lost 4 straight at home.

Not sure I even care what seed we get in the tournament and just rather have this season come to a close.

Kinda like how I felt about football & a bowl game. Just shut it down and try again next season. Too many missing pieces for a variety of reasons.
