Weds 2/5/20
Division 1 FB
Signing period 02/05/20 thru 04/01/20.
It will be real interesting to see how staff fills out the
signing class. Usually one surprise on signing day.
Boca... I am highly disappointed that the NLI signing open forum is apparently defunct. I had gone every year for at least 15 years. However, I always look forward to NLI day just for a few new surprises as you stated!

I hope we sign a few more players just to keep it all interesting. We do not have a DT in this class and as usual we are light on LB'ers. That's where I hope we add some quality players.

I thought our LB recruiting had been pretty good the last couple years and our depth chart was good. I must have been miss informed.
We do have 8 active LB. do you truly believe we have enough talent at LB? We have addressed coaching but I think proven talent LB is still missing

2 or 3 LB'ers in the signing class.
I believe something like 6 of the 8 active are
RsFr or Fr. Two Jrs and Johnson, the ND transfer.
Still a really young position group. Poynter a DT or DE? Same size as Atariwa coming in. If that's the case probably ends up a DT.
We have the coaches, now go after the players. Why don't we convert some of the Offensive Lineman to DT or DE? We have a plethora of them and we now have the coaching too. Attention Coach Black and Coach Kuligowski….

GO ROCKETS!!!
LBs currently on the roster:

SR Craft
SR Davis
JR Bolden
JR Dy. Johnson
JR Crider
RFr Barrow
RFr Enders
RFr Ragin
RFr Recker
RFr Smith

Also, Holt, although listed at Safety, has played more of that Star S/LB Hybrid.

I believe Enders, Recker, and Davis are non scholarship players. That’s seven current scholarship linebackers plus one 2020 commit. And yes -Holt is a definite Star/Lb hybrid. Good call.

Go Rockets!
So far just early signings posted plus the 2pm ESPN Rocket Recruiting Show posted.
It appears that UT has received a commitment for VERY highly rated TB Lamy Constant!!!! 31 offers including Baylor, etc!

Go Rockets!

Had been a WVU commit, decomitted in Dec. ESPN Top 300 recruit, and 247 has him as the 38th ranked RB in the class.

Read an interesting article yesterday about the transfer portal and how it is effecting the recruiting process. Schools are holding scholarships for transfers, which is limiting the amount going to HS kids. Therefore, kids who are highly regarded and wait on committing, may get left behind. They used a local 3 star SS, who had early offers from all the big FL schools...now, he may end up at Florida A&M or go the Juco route and start the process over again. Perhaps that is how we got him?
How did we sign Lamy Constant?

Pretty impressive offer list including: UF, LSU, and UM

According to his Twitter, his first offer was from Michigan. His top 4 consisted of LSU, A&M, MSU & WVU. When he tweeted his decommitment from WVU, a flock of Mountaineer supporters came to express their disappointment. In all, Constant has to be one of the most highly sought after recruits Toledo has signed.

Makes you wonder if this was a product of filled classes...or failed classes. UT has made a living taking qualification risks and turning them into adequate students while they ball out on the field. This could be another one.

That is what happened with Chester Taylor - who then went on to graduate on time and earn a 5th season, which he turned into a lot of gold (NFL cash) by having a very productive senior year under Amstutz, who convinced him to come back for his final year.

I will hold off on any recruit coming in that is highly rated and a "4-star". Nice to get those guys - if they perform like a "4-star". It is exciting, can't deny that....
