RIP to Kobe Bryant, his daughter and the 7 other people who died in the helicopter crash earlier today in the Los Angeles area. One of the other people who died was long-time Orange Coast College baseball coach John Altobelli (and his daughter, another teammate of his daughter Gianna's youth basketball team). Altobelli played college baseball at the University of Houston (and also coached there a bit as an assistant). Very sad day.

Former Rice catcher John Lukin had a heartfelt post about Coach Alto on Facebook, describing how he grew up know Coach Alto and that Coach Alto called the Rice coaches to help Lukin receive a scholarship offer from Rice.
