Welcome to Western Michigan University, Coach Harbaugh!
I guess a welcome "back" to WMU is in order. He was here in 2015-2016 as a grad assistant while getting his Masters.
The Gophers fielded a top tier receiving corps last season. Led by Tyler Johnson who is considered near the top of this NFL WR draft class. Minnesota finished 2019 2nd in FBS with an impressive 15.53yds/comp trailing only Oklahoma. Hopefully GH has gleaned some of what made Minnesota’s offense incrementally successful in recent years.
Bio from gophersports.com:

Greg Harbaugh rejoined the Minnesota football staff in 2019 as a quality control assistant. Harbaugh, who was in the same role for the Gophers in 2017, spent the 2018 season coaching receivers at Chattanooga.

In one year with Harbaugh on staff, Chattanooga saw increases in receptions (+13), receiving yards (+627), receiving touchdowns (+2) and average receiving yards per game (+57).

Prior to his first stint at Minnesota, Harbaugh spent time at Western Michigan as an offensive graduate assistant. During his time at Western Michigan, the Broncos won the Mid-American Conference championship and earned a berth in the 2016 Cotton Bowl. Western Michigan also won the 2015 Bahamas Bowl with Harbaugh on staff.

Before his time at Western Michigan Harbaugh held many roles at Marietta College for two seasons. He was the recruiting coordinator, academic coordinator, video coordinator and passing game coordinator. He also spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Methodist University from 2011-13.

Harbaugh began his coaching career at North Carolina Wesleyan College in 2009-10 coaching receivers and running backs. The Battling Bishops won conference championships both years and earned an appearance in the NCAA Division III playoffs in 2009.

Harbaugh earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management form Averett University in 2009 and his master’s degree in sport management from Western Michigan in 2016.
Sure looks like a good move for Greg and WMU. Welcome aboard coach!

P.s. We’re not “rowing the boat” anymore!
He's going to be shocked at the extreme culture change in the last 3 years. Certainly will not be the same WMU he left.

Should make for some interesting interview material for the western herald.

“So what changes do you see in the program since you left?”
Is Greg related to other Harbaugh coaches?

Shocked? Many D1 teams have big turnover staff and culture changes over 2-3 years. I wouldn't expect him to think he's returning to Fleckville. Maybe thats why he left Minny?
Zach Terrell has already pitched in on twitter about this hire...

@CoachHarbaugh played a huge role in our offenses development in 15’-16’! Really excited for him and
@WMU_Football!
This looks like a good move to me. Young, talented, well-liked, up and coming coach.

Not according to his (or their) bios, and not pronounced the same either.

Har-bow (his) vs. Har-baw (the Jack Harbaugh family tree).

So don't hold that against him.

Probably much more of a Fleckster.

Thx - could not find a connection Online.
When searching the Astronaut’s information & name keeps popping up.

I saw Greg’s name pronunciation difference. I’d bet that will be frequently pronounced wrong in Midwest.
I like this hire! 04-cheers
Encouraging. Hopefully he’ll stay for a few seasons. It’s good he’s familiar with the school. I always wondered if he was related.
Excellent! Can't wait to see what he can do with the talent we have on this roster.
