Okay, guys, a little editing ....you can't do your "first ever" of anything "more than once".
I like it.

I also hope we are considering lowering the football field when the track is moved.

100%. Theres no real point to the expense of moving the track otherwise.
Like the Best of the past decade blog, this latest one doesn't open. I gather I'm not the only one.
I have always been opposed to moving athletic fields out to Dillard Complex.
Athletic events should be played on campus where the students can't help but see them being played and can easily stop by to watch. In the olden days, we were able to watch baseball games next to the stadium and we could stop by Barksdale Field to watch the women.

If they can clear so many trees along Monticello just to accommodate a few pedestrians and bicyclists, then certainly we can cut a few more of those "precious" trees for athletic venues. With the heavy traffic these days driving thru the College Woods, many of those passing by would be attracted to the games.

Good news is the marquee sports remain on campus. Still peeved that they ditched soccer from Busch for the purposes of field hockey (instead of switching the turf for grass), but that ship sailing is permanent. Student attendance was awesome for soccer when I was a student. Probably felt awesome to run the track in Zable, but nobody is there to watch anyway. They should have made the decision to move the track AND build a new soccer stadium simultaneously, with the track encircling the pitch...a common scenario worldwide.

Also, Dillard is abandoned, but tearing them down is sad...nice structures. I wish they could have incorporated some sort of stands into the front of it and converted it into a stadium Zable2.0, put the soccer field and track right in front.

Wheres the prediction for our EVMS medical school affiliation to get us some real orthopedic care for our athletes?
What ever happened with the EVMS/W&M partnership? Other than getting ODU folks undies in a bunch, it doesn't seem like anything came of that.
