He’s doing decent this year at 10-4, but I believe Texas has bigger expectations than their current record out of their 5th year head coach. I imagine Shaka is feeling the pressure, so could the ACC be a good landing spot, maybe GT or Wake?

Ideally, I'd like to see GT and Wake get an up and comer who has been successful below the P5. GT is still paying for the mistake of taking a coach after he's worn out his welcome at his previous job.

If they can't attract an up and comer then I'd rather see them go with Shaka than an unproven assistant.

Also, as far a former VCU head coaches go.... I like Jeff Capel with Pitt a lot better than Shaka. I think Shaka was lucky to run into a few teams that couldn't handle the Havoc full court pressure and got a final 4 out of it. Capel I feel like can really coach.

Smart was hired for Texas to be able to compete in the ACC. Unfortunately for Texas they recruit under a different set of rules than the rest of the Big 12.

The ACC has to get Shaka after he leaves Texas. He would too very well at Ga Tech or Syracuse. He'd even do well at WFU or BC.
I think Shaka is on the hot seat right now barring a spectacular finish, he probably gone after this year.

Thanks, but no thanks. With all the resources that Texas has and he cant do better than mediocre there? I would rather SU go after Hopkins or some other proven up and comer.

Name all the basketball coaches who have won big at Texas. All of them had endless "resources" but it didn't seem to matter. What does that tell you?

That tells me that Texas is not good at hiring great coaches.

The B12 has been around ~25 years. In that time, Texas has won ZERO mens BB conference championships and THREE football conference championships.
