In order to get that one week break in the schedule before the pod play we have a tight schedule coming up. Starting on the 16th we have 5 games in 9 days. I think we will find out a lot about our team by the end of this month.
We're about to find out how tight...

Who's brilliant friggin idea was it to give us an off day on a Thursday before school is back in session? Great job, morons. Way to keep the "student" in "student-athlete" in mind. 01-wingedeagle03-hissyfit01-lauramac203-banghead

Entirely scheduled by the conference office. Only 1 game this week since it's with Charlotte (travel partner).
What's the issue?
Well look at the title of the thread. We are facing a 5 game stretch in 9 days. Yet we have this open date today. It doesn't make a lot of sense to work to create that week before pod play while leaving open holes in the schedule. We would only have 4 games in nine days rather than 5 if this open date had been used. CUSA is making it harder on teams than they have to.

With the travel partner schedule, everybody experiences a single-game week, and a 3-game week. Last year, our single-game week happened to fall mid-February, which was convenient.

Now travel partners have the options to work between themselves to move 1 of their games. UAB & MTSU agreed to move one of their games, and they play twice in one week. I do know that ODU was amenable to this in the past, but Charlotte declined.
That open date moves around depending on what school you're talking about. I believe the schools also have flexibility when it comes to choosing dates for the travel partner games, that's why you see so many of them play both the home and away in the same week.

Correct. As long as both teams agree, the conference permits moving travel partner games. In ODU's case, I know that Charlotte has not been too flexible with schedule changes.
