Seems to me that in the past we have lost players just before big games to things like Performance enhancing drugs or marijuana or other illicit substances.

I haven't heard of any players being suspended this go around.

Are our players now more educated on the consequences? Is it a reflection of HCCC's no nonsense approach? Is a reflection of the upperclassmen/captains being great leaders and mentoring of the younger kids?

I am assuming the NCAA did random testing after the playoff games as in the past?

I don't know the answer, but it sure has been nice not having that as a distraction.

Play the Natty at full strength and bring it home.
That goes for both teams. I think there were a couple suspended Bison as well last time. No news is good news!
JMU's players were suspend for weed, NDSU had players suspend for PEDs. I see a big difference in that
I hope you haven't jinxed us- this type of news usually comes out the day before the game or day of the game. Crossing my fingers but I agree that the culture of JMU Football seems very strong from the outside.
WHYYYYYYYYYYYY would you post this a few days before the game!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not superstitious, just a little stitious.

FWIW, Knowing you’re probably going to get tested I see weed as more dumb and selfish, while PEDs is at least trying to get a physical competitive edge.

Yeah that’s a tough one. Would you rather your players be selfish/dumb or cheaters? Luckily it seems like we don’t have to deal with either so far under the new regime. *knock on wood*

Agree, though both are not acceptable behavior, if I were a coach, I'd raise my voice above normal to the guy caught smoking weed but lower it to below normal to the guy who took PEDs.
Interesting.
Interesting indeed...was thinking today I hope nothing comes out late week along these lines. I think I recall that happening before the semifinal game at NDSU though? Maybe there was another occasion....regardless...really hope all is quiet on this front for the Dukes

So youre ok with kids knowingly cheating as opposed to being like every other college kid? Both are dumb but one is a stupid mistake

Both gets you suspended, so in essence both are “cheating”. One is for the betterment of self and the other is for team. And not “every other college kid” is doing it, regardless you gotta be better than that anyway when you have so much to lose.

Dumber than someone ranking RU's stadium as the best in FCS? IMHO: not even close
You’re right, saying somebody is dumb and selfish for getting suspended for a national championship game was pretty damn dumb. And thinking one suspension was more honorable than the other was brilliant.
Thread of the year. Thank God we still have 358 or so days to improve on this.

Nowhere did i say it was honorable but keep trying. You probably think Bonds is the legitimate homerun king too
Probably some of the young guys saw what happened to the older guys some years ago, and didn't want to jeopardize the team. Maybe a lesson learned?

Also obv our players are angels so they are on their best behavior all the time.
