FAU home game on Thursday, and Marshall and WKU home games on Saturday are the ESPN+ games

Heading into the week, Rice and UTEP are 2-0, USM is 1-0, 8 teams (ODU, Charlotte, UAB, MTSU, FAU, UNT, Marshall and UTSA) are 1-1, La Tech is 0-1, and WKU and FIU are 0-2.

North Texas at FIU, 10 am (why?)
UAB at WKU, 11 am (also why?)

Probably the same reason that Rice men do an early game during the week, to bring in kids.
I understand those games during the holidays - or close to them - when schools are looking for alternative and fun teaching exercises. But in early January when the kids are likely going back to school after the long break, I don't think a field trip is necessary to break up the monotony.

Okay, grumpy diatribe over.
UAB is definitely WKU's Education Day game. Can't find anything on the FIU site but presume that's the case there too.

Not a WKU guy but it may have been a matter of limited opportunities. WKU had two weekday OOC games, Belmont and Oklahoma, and generally the Education Day game is an opportunity to goose attendance figures against total cans like Alabama A&M or UMass-Lowell by bringing in thousands of screaming kids.

The ODU Education Day game is usually the loudest of the season.
Rice runs the conference win streak to 22, pulling away from FAU.
Well the early home game might have helped FIU get its first conference win (they had 2300 folks for that game). Louisiana Tech is now the only team in the conference without a win. WKU had 5000-plus for its early game.
USM loses by 17 at home....sigh
Keep an eye on two big matchups this afternoon: Charlotte at ODU tips in 90 minutes (2pm ET), and an hour later it’s Middle at Western.
Marshall leads UAB by 2 after 3Q.
FIU leads Rice by 1 after 1Q.
Charlotte out to a 9 point lead late in the first at ODU
ODU beats Charlotte 54-51
Rice was the only road team to win today, and consequently are alone in 1st place at 4-0. But it might have been a costly win as their star player Erica Ogwumike left the game in the 2nd half with an undisclosed injury.
