UNCW (5-12, 0-4) vs W&M (11-5, 3-0)

7:00 in Williamsburg
FloSports for those who can't attend.

UNCW is trying to find their way...let's hope they don't find it at Kaplan Arena.

In a strange way I think this game is bigger than the CofC game on Saturday.

1). It can be tough to win that first game back after a long road trip. True in baseball, also true in basketball.
2). This game is like the St. Joe’s game (and other games the Tribe has played in the past). It’s an opportunity to validate a string of big wins and generate some fan enthusiasm - or let the bubble burst.

I hope not. I already bought a ticket to the CofC game.

We should be able to put away a down UNCW team.
Though Toews is gone, they got Gadsden back on Saturday. He had missed all, but one game, this season.

They, apparently, are now implementing more full court pressure with their guard oriented group, so, our guards have to take care of the ball.
I'm not seeing a huge letdown for this game. I think the team has got to be so excited to play at home. They deserve a rousing welcome back and and I'm confident they will. Too bad the students won't be there to join in.
Wilmington is really short in the post. Time to slow the game down and just beat them inside.
Aren’t all home games on Tribe TV??
Not this season. Our broadcasters on Flo TV feed.

Rat poison!

But I think these are the games that worry me the most. I feel like we do better with low expectations
ESPN gives us a 90% chance to win. We're screwed.

The Solid Verbal Podcast has a term for games like this- "let down/look ahead sandwich". They're playing a bad or underwhelming opponent, they're coming off a big game, and have a big game after this one.

Just out of curiosity, are you referring to this years team or those from the past? I haven't quite figured out what the makeup and personality of this team is just yet.

I actually think that this team has a pretty doggone good grasp at this point of what its makeup and personality is and has a pretty good idea of what it can be. I also think that we also know but are being understandably cautious because its makeup and game plan is unlike anything that we have seen in a very long time.
I’m going to break one of my rules and approvingly cite a poster above:

It wouldn’t have a name (let down/look ahead sandwich) if it wasn’t a common phenomena for all teams.

There is no guarantee that it will happen but it is wildly optimistic to declare that it can’t happen to us.

Honestly I think I'm just referring to sports in general. Feels like every team in every sport, college and pro, has games that are on paper easy wins, but don't always play out that way. But I agree, it is hard to say what our makeup is so far.
Assuming UNCW follows their recent gameplan to press full court from the opening tip, I hope we aggressively attack it for quick scoring opportunities. Conservative approach usually leads to the defenders' advantage. Need to welcome the press, beat it over the top with quick passing, and make them pay early.
Line right now is W&M -13
I hope we don’t pay attention to our opponent and just play our game. Get excited to be back home, minimize turnovers, pound it inside, take care of business.

I have an extra ticket for tonight’s game if anyone wants to come cheer on the Tribe. Parquet 9 so decent seats (but you’ll be sitting next to me haha). Send me a PM.
One hour countdown.

Knight needs to avoid foul trouble
Beat the 'hawks press
Be patient and take logical shots
D up, especially on the perimeter
