The stunning part to me is that the ACC with its many private schools outdraws the PAC 12 with all of its population and state schools.

The bottom dwellers such as Rutgers, Maryland, Illinois, Northwestern (although good some years) serve their purpose.

The defunct web site, MR SEC, spent an entire realignment article explaining why Vanderbilt did not "fit" the SEC by any metric they used to describe a typical SEC school.
I guess Vandy hangs around for the money or just to stick in the craw of the folks who don't think they belong.

College football just isn’t a draw on the West Coast. Take the Cali public schools for example, the way the Cali tier and localization system is set up, most Cali HS kids have zero chance of getting into Berkeley or UCLA even if they’ve got great grades and they know it. They don’t grow up as fans and they don’t have anyone in their family who attended either school to help grow that fandom.
As long as schools only give announced attendance, the data from these comparisons will be a little questionable.

JRsec, as to the Pac-12 attendance, I would think the fact that many schools in that league have huge Asian and other foreign student enrollments and graduates (with those folks generally preferring soccer and basketball over American football) might be a factor. Perhaps I'm wrong.

Its interesting that the SEC's median is higher than the average. The Big 10 has the biggest drop from average to median. The rest of the conferences are pretty close between median and average.

If every conference got to eliminate their bottom two to four programs the way the big 12 does the numbers would be more truth reflective.
A perfect example of being able to manipulate statistics in any way in order to support any narrative.

If you have a pie and cut it into 10 pieces versus cutting the same pie into 12 or 14 pieces,

Obviously not a business major.
Most revenue is internally generated. And the Big 12 makes more as shown by the average attendance. As for the TV piece, the Big 12 is selling less inventory, so its not like dividing a fixed amount fewer ways.
