What most excites you about NIU athletics in 2020?

I'm going to say further implementation of Hammock's/Eidsness' offense. I think Bowers takes that next step and the offense puts up points moving forward

Huskies undefeated in basketball conference play!
I'm excited about this thread for one thing--thanks, Hawaii. Looking forward to BYU coming to DeKalb, excited about going to Maryland to watch a game, and I can't wait to see if Ducker might be the next Garrett Wolfe. Lots to look forward to on the football field.

I think that entire O Line of recruits the brought in from Wisconsin + Dustin Fletcher are going to be something special. Dustin is athletic and he was recruited by the Ivy league.
To me, the win vs.Western Michigan ... new guys doing good things, seniors getting to play, attitude positive regardless ... and all with nothing to play for except pride and pointing the arrow up for next season.
A real passing attack! Bowers will throw for 3,500 yards in 2020.
Hell yeah..will be awesome..but how do you figure such a change, and how can you put into account how fragile he is..by the way kid is tough as nails..but still fragile..so hope you are right, dude

This year's line was swiss cheese. Watch them against Illinois State, that's when I knew there would be problems there. Bowers has great pocket awareness, but he also doesn't have the best receiving corp either.

For next season, I think the line develops. Especially Cox, who was only a RS FR this year. I also think they'll do better to get the WRs run better routes and get open for Bowers. Maybe they'll get Robinson to play like the monster he's built like? Cole Tucker will only get better, and I think Tyrice Richie can be a star if he wants to.

I underestimated how much the new scheme would effect the O-line. And it wasn’t a great one to begin with. But with a full season to evaluate and teach the line play should improve. Getting the right RB will be a big help. Hammock was pretty clear Harbs was the wrong type guy. The top two wrs return. The top tes return.

The staff handled Bowers concussions correctly. That was good. But they also ran him needlessly causing the first. That was bad. They’ll
Be smarter this year. Almost zero reason to run Bowers. I expect better from the staff and players in 2020.
Agree, with your post, and there is a lot of upside to Bowers...I don't get why you giving a blank check to o a-line being better( I have no clue)...get it Bowers not a running qb... nor should he be..with that said..need to keep the D honest..and if they give you that much open room run

And losing talent on the offensive line does not help either.
I am excited, and curious to see how Ernin Collins will be, and what his role will be ? Collins, Nettles, and if the staff elects to use Ducker, give Northern 3 backs, who all bring something different to the table. Felt our inability to consistently establish the run game hurt Bowers, when he was in at times. Most definitely the running game needs to be established for Bowers to thrive, due to his lack of mobility.

Also, is Childers returning?? Has anyone had confirmation either way, or is what we heard speculation?
I'm excited to see if we get any WR and O-line transfers.

Me too. Mainly for the o line. So many players in the portal this year, it would be a shame not to get someone. At least for depth.

I heard he's retiring to focus on his Master's

Thanks, for getting back regarding this information.
I'm looking forward to the defense being much improved with Deuvoux, Pugh, and Cole dominating. Also hoping Brinkman and Crawford are given a chance to be difference makers that I believe they can be...

Yea he's not a guy you call planned runs for but he's mobile enough to escape the pocket and if the running room is there, take it, even if you have to slide early to avoid getting hit. 3 yards is better than 0.

I'll be VERY interested to see what the running game looks like this coming year.
