And they did very well in conference play last season, finishing as the #2 seed with a 13-5 record.

This is going as expected.
Yes, the last few minutes vs Notre Dame are a blueprint on how to turn it around if behind vs Rockets. Once the opponent starts using their better team quickness - overplaying on defense and driving past us on offense - we get blown out. Unfortunately we seem to again be below average in team quickness. 03-banghead
Too much to ask guys to make, say , 70% of their FTs? Which wins this one?

It's not exactly easy as 70% completion in the weather to dodging receivers covered by a speedy corner while you're being chased by 300 lb piles of muscle with desire. The basket is just sitting there, daring you. How can you not be intimidated by that?

snideness aside, I have enough trouble hitting 70% in a closed gym. That some of these guys can do it after sprinting a couple miles? Kudos.
Key to defending Toledo - make Knapke post up down low, allow passes in to him, collapse on him, then when he inevitably drops the ball down to his waist, take the ball out of his hands - and no need to slap at it and risk a foul. His hand strength rivals that of a 4 year old girl, so it is pretty easy to just take it away without any resistance being provided by him.

Been waiting four years for him to stop doing that with the ball. Bet he makes his future bride reach for the ring. He might have the two processes confused.
Team heading south quickly, another lost I believe at Kent State. Too many minutes being played by the starters. What has happen to the FT shooting? No bench help and Coach lacks confidence in the bench. No go to person for offense. Despite all that, they hit 5 more FTs, they win on the road. If the Rockets go 10-8 inside the MAC, they will be fortunate.

One more thing I wonder if Bizeau spouted off to the coaching staff wanting to play more. If true you can't blame him. It was this coach that accepted his transfer from the Dukes, poor judge of talent if the young man wasn't playing well.

Last years very early exit in the MAC tourney taught me that with Kowalczyk at the helm we’ll win around 20 games and make an NIT appearance every couple of years. Same was true of Joplin’s teams but he had a longer leash because of playing days at Toledo. Unless we can get K to leave, we’ll have to pray that he recruits an under the radar guy who can turn into a POY in the MAC and just singlehandedly get us into the NCAA tourney. Just my take...

I think 17 wins is the ceiling for this team.
Would a 19-13 season with an exit in the first 2 rounds be enough to fire Coach K? No one really seems happy at the moment. The dance seems out of reach at this point. It could be an overreaction, but my sentiments about the ND game are now evident after 4 straight losses.

I'd like to go 11-7 at worst in the MAC on a year to year basis, But can we go 9-9?

As usual, O'Brien gave a coach a long-term contract {through 2023-24} for not being able to win meaningful games.
Feels a lot like football — just not very good and not fun to watch.
