Haven't seen this posted. So wanted to be able to compare Bowl results of all the G5 conference for bragging purposes.

Conference: Record:

SunBelt 3-2

Wins: App, stAte
Loss: GS, GSU

AAC 4-3

Wins: UCF, Navy, Cincy, Tulane
Loss: Temple, SMU, Memphis

CUSA 3-5

Wins: LaTech, FAU, WKU
Loss: UNCC, FIA, UAB, Marshall

MAC 3-3

Wins: Buffalo, Kent State
Loss: CMU, EMU

MW 4-3

Wins: SDS, Hawaii, AF, Wyoming
Loss: Utah State, Boise, Nevada

Final G5 Standings:
Sun Belt 3-2
AAC 4-3
MW 4-3
MAC 3-3
CUSA 3-4
I’m glad we are looking good, but it’s also a little misleading.

Our bowl tie ins are terrible. We play arguably the least talented bowl eligible teams. We should really be dominating these bowls if we intend to elevate the conference.

Look at our opponents:

UAB (9-4) finished 2nd in CUSA, got blown out in championship game
Liberty (7-5) wins over 2 FCS teams, NM State 2x and UMASS.
FIU - (6-6) finished 8th in CUSA
Miami (OH) - (8-5) MAC Champ (lol)
Wyoming - (7-5) finished 7th in the MWC

Frankly anything short of 4-1 at this point would be a let down. Should be 5-0.

I must not have been paying attention leading up to that game but I COULD NOT BELIEVE the teams Liberty played this year to get bowl eligible. Arguably the worst bowl loss in Sunbelt history purely given the caliber of opponent.

Prior to Liberty’s bowl game versus G Southern, they had one win I’d consider “decent”, over Buffalo.

Their other wins were:

New Mexico State (twice) - (2-10)
UMASS - (1-11)
FCS Hampton - (5-7)
FCS Maine - (6-6)
New Mexico - (2-10)

So the combined record of teams Liberty beat was:

(26-59) - (.305)

Excluding FCS:

(15-43) - (.258)

That’s unreal.

Liberty is on the rise, with the coveted independent schedule, against the vaunted NMSU and FCS teams.

Then again, I thought only 1 FCS won counted in that regard.
Only one does. They had to be 7-5. 6-6 would not have worked.

It's even worse if you dig into it even more. NMSU was 1-10 against FBS competition. Their one win was against UTEP, which was 0-11 against FBS. New Mexico was 1-10 against FBS, with the one win being against NMSU. UMass finished 1-11, and their one win was against Akron, which was 0-12 this year.

Using the Massey Composite rankings, out of 130 FBS teams, Liberty's wins were against
#123 New Mexico (only win was against #126 NMSU)
#126 NMSU (only win was against #128 UTEP)
#126 NMSU (only win was against #128 UTEP)
#129 UMASS (only win was against #130 Akron)
FCS

And now Georgia Southern.

Don't forget #71 Buffalo, and Georgia Southern is #63
Looking like the Arizona Bowl between GSU vs Wyoming may decide which G5 conference comes out with best record. No pressure Panthers. Ha
Complete the syllogism:

1. Bowl-Eligible Power Conference teams don't lose to UNC by 42 and to FAU by 24.
2. Two AAC teams lost by UNC 42 and to FAU by 42.
3. ?

If power conference teams do not lose to UNC by 42 and FAU by 24

Do any of the G5 conference champ play another G5 conference champ???
Nope. But got two Champ vs Runner Up games.
stAte was kind of middle of the pack for SBC and FIU was kind of middle of the pack for CUSA. It was a fun game to watch. I took vacation this week so I've watched a lot of bowl games. Evenly matched teams makes it fun for the fans. Overmatched teams make it suck for everyone.
