A month after shocking the nation taking down #1 Kentucky his alma mater at Rupp Arena, McCarty has freefallen out of the coaching world.
I guess he picked the wrong way to celebrate his big win.

I have his rookie card somewhere in storage. Any bidders?
Seems extreme to shut down a message board and revoke your fandom.
Rumor circulating on reddit too.

Evansville board shut down as owner withdraws any affiliation with university.

These sort of things happen at places like Evansville and Memphis...07-coffee3
This is what we in the IT field like to call an "I D 10 T" error.

ASU for Norvell
There are always creepy predators, your 45 year old coaches, professors, etc, who love to entice young women barely of age, away from home and mom and dad in the big city/school.

Good riddance to this creep.

Aren't you the ones who hired the kissing coach. Damm I still cringe thinking about Herman forcing all of his players to swap spit with him on national TV before every game. Come to think about Houston hasn't been any good since he left out of the back door. 03-nutkick

What exactly did he do? no details are even listed. was it consensual ? is it different if the cheerleader is a 21 or 22 yr old senior? maybe other know a lot more about the situation and its worthy of backlash

Shutting down the message board is a little much...

No it makes no difference if she's 22 or 23. It's about the power relationship, classic sexual harassment. Consensual is questionable. If you follow that logic you go down the slippery road of approving pedophilia, as you say 21 others 18, some 15, or even 13.

It's about the position of power and abusing it.
This is spreading like wildfire and even hit tigerdroppings:

Evansville fans quickly put together a new site but accusations are flying and posts getting deleted as the new owner, like the old owner, fears liability.

Both Walter McCarty and AD Mark Spencer deleted their social media as soon as the rumor was tweeted.

This is spiraling out of control and UE probably can’t fire for-cause (no buyout) unless the independent law firm can confirm an affair via witnesses, phone records, or DNA testing if there’s a birth.

There’s also the potential for litigation against UE by McCarty (to claim buyout) or female students (if prior complaints were filed with no termination).

Total nonsense.

That's just like someone attracting someone due to status or money.

The legitimate argument is that coaches shouldn't be having affairs with students period.

Yeah, it's more like the rule of faculty and student relationships. It could be a professor, an administrator or a coach it's all bad news and in most places a fireable offense.

This is only a fireable offense if the student is in the professor's class. Even then, at most universities it's allowed as long as the relationship is disclosed to a superior and the professor arranges for someone else to grade the student's performance in the class. I've worked at 3 universities and been through numerous HR sessions on this topic.

If the student isn't in the professor's class (or isn't on the coach's team), there's nothing illegal or immoral about it (other than the normal everyday immorality of having marital relations outside of a marriage).

Professors date students all the time. One of my good friends actually ended up marrying one of her masters students.

But what's the organizational chart? If the cheerleaders organization is a direct or indirect report to the AD, the Basketball Coach at a place like Evansville would seem to be the section chief with the most clout over her group after the Athletic Director himself.

Which seems like it would be wide open to being an abuse of power situation.
