NOTES and Comments

Congrats to Buffalo and Kent State for getting their first Bowl Victories. That Bahamas Bowl has really helped MAC teams out in getting their first bowl wins. Around here, we know that.

Has Kent State's program started to turn the corner? Sure looked like it against Utah State. I would think that Utah State hates to see MAC schools on the field. Several have secured their first bowl victories against them - Ohio, Akron and Kent State.

Great start to bowl season. Two MAC East teams have given us a strong start. I just hope that the rest of the MAC teams can keep it rolling, starting with CMU. This is for Conference Pride, so even though I gag a bit at the thought and they are our bitter rival, I would like to see a CMU win over another MW team.

While comparative scores don't really mean anything, it is fun to look at common opponents. Buffalo beat Charlotte 31 - 9 while Western Kentucky beat them 30 - 14.
I don't think I could ever root for CMU, but I won't be mad if they win. Keep the MACtion rolling in these bowl games. It's about time we earned some postseason respect.
I hope MAC goes 6-1.

Go Aztecs!

I'm sorry, I couldn't root for Chimps if they were playing North Korea.
This game reminds me of CMU's bowl game in 2017 vs. Wyoming.

- Played out west vs. a MWC team.
- Getting embarrassed by said MWC team.
- 5th year transfer QB good all season, craps the bed in bowl game.

I'm with the good Major.

And The Cannon Trophy looks gooood in Kalamazoo, its rightful home.
Watching most of these bowl games, the attendance reminds me of Tuesday night November MAC games in the rain. You can count the number of people in the stands with two hands.
Where are all the people that were ready to suck McElwain's unit?

They'll be back on here if they beat SDSU and-or we lose to WKU.

Like Cher and cockroaches.
Chips down 41-11 in the 3rd quarter. Don’t like to revel in other’s misery...but I have cracked a smile at least.
It’s really fun watching and rooting for a team with a great defense. SDSU’s defense is really good.
San Diego State's previous season high was 31 points against 2-win New Mexico State.

They're at 41 today and it's still the 3rd quarter.

What the hell have the chimps been doing since the MACC? Did they not prepare at all?
48-11 with less than 5 minutes to play. I don't think we will, but sure hope we don't lay an egg like CMU in our bowl.
SDSU inside CMU's 10. 2 mins to go. The Aztecs will just take a knee.

I don't think we will. As Lester pointed out, the team is angry/feisty about blowing the MAC West Championship opportunity.

I'm not worried about us bringing our C or D game.

Would be more than they brought against NIU.
So after beating Toledo & clinching the MAC West, the Chips drop the MAC Title game & then get blown out in the bowl game to finish 8-6. Chips good, but not elite yet. See ya next year Chippewas. Rivalry Trophies in Kalamazoo!

We really are not in a premium position to trash talk the chimps, after they walked through the door to the MACC which we opened wide for them. Still hurts to think about it. They did way more with way less than us.

True. It hurts to think about it.

However, if we win our bowl by playing well -- I'll be happier for what we did, than what they did.

Scenario 1:
- Lose to @CMU after getting whipped for most of the game, but comeback failed
- Showing some promise, figuring ourselves out -- but thankfully CMU lays an egg in the West race, and we take it.
- Then we get beat in Detroit (semi-home-field) by Miami-OH who we whipped earlier in the year
- Then we play in a bowl against a good MW team and get completely embarrassed

Scenario 2 (Real Life+Xtra):
- We beat an improved CMU at home
- We lay an egg on the road, allowing up/down CMU to win the West
- CMU gets beat in Detroit with a semi-home-field advantage to Miami-OH who we whipped earlier in the year
- CMU then plays in a bowl against a good MW team and gets completely embarassed
- We play a decent CUSA team and beat them by playing well, winning a bowl!

I don't feel that CMU is either.

CMU had a cute turnaround season. Backed to the MAC Championship Game based on WMU errors against NIU.

However, head-to-head...where is The Cannon Trophy? Of course, it resides in its rightful home in Kalamazoo, and is not going anywhere else for a while. Lester has already beaten them two straight.

CMU has not beaten the Broncos at Waldo North Stadium in Mount Pleasant since Obama's first term. Based on recruiting, there is no reason to think that will change in 2020.

WMU's "Decade of Dominence" over CMU (on and off the field) will continue. The Bronco program, and WMU as a university, is just better and has been for a while.
