I don't have much opinion on what I've seen other than happiness that UAB will soon have a new home. I'm sure there are pros and cons to the situation (BJCC rather than on campus) and the design. However, I can't bring myself to take anyone seriously that uses the terms "home side" and "away side" when discussing NCAA FBS seating arrangements.
I’m just curious as to whether the Blazer Club seating will be inside (like at Legion) or outside. I’m not gonna be too keen on $600 plus a season ticket and sit outside. I’ll pay more for a seat inside if UAB goes up due to a better facility. I’ve called UAB and can’t seem to get an answer as to where Blazer Club seats will be. Hopefully we will get an answer sometime next season.

From what I heard the seats will be outside with a lounge inside

That’s gonna be tough to charge an additional $600 (which is what it is now) per season ticket to sit outside. I wonder if there will be another group they will form to have seating inside. I know they have the Champion Club that will have seating inside. Just hoping they have another choice. There is a big difference in donation $$ required between the Blazer Club and Champion Club. I liked being out of the elements.

Design is fine. It’s what we want. About sick of the whining.

Really.

Really.

From what Ive heard firsthand,,,the only 'inside' seating will be in the suites, all of which have already been acquired and can be used for any event that takes place at the stadium. There appears to be no 'Champion Club' group seating. The Club seating ( which will require a donation of an amount yet to be determined) will be in the middle section of the West side of the stadium and will include access to a indoor area for concessions.

Bartow Arena initially set aside a larger number of student seating
sections during the first 2 seasons. The students did not show up and those seats were put up for sale to the public.
My season tickets in year one at Bartow were on the top row of upper bowl behind the basket. I was able to get better seats every season moving forward.
The Arena was very close to being listed as sold out with season ticket holders in year one.
My point was that folks were being told that if you did not buy tickets early you might be left out. Bartow was not going to be like BJCC.
The basketball program reached out to the community so much better during the BJCC years too. They came to my high school often trying to get students to come to games. That drive changed with the move to Bartow.
But you have one point correct. You could always get a ticket at Bartow because someone was not going to show up. (specifically students during years one and two at Bartow. Later, students would complain they could not get seats to bigger games like Memphis as they were being sold to the public unfairly). No one was turned away from Bartow, but I do think that was part of the plan at a smaller venue.
You've got to be careful with a smaller venue not to drive your own fans away. UAB is not The Chicago Cubs or Crimson Tide.

Great history lesson, BJ. As one can see, those great crowds were either against outstanding non-conf teams or those in prior conferences where we ( and or they ) were actually competitive on a regional and national stage. The current CUSA has very few such teams on a year to year basis, unfortunately.
The time frame of the CUSA exodus of certain teams is noticeable in that attendance post.
